This has been one of my favorite Coursera courses thus far! Interesting, engaging, fun and very relevant to what I do in my job in marketing/advertising. (but this would be interesting/relevant to ANYONE as a consumer.) Really interesting to see how the future of "Gamification" will no doubt affect us in our daily lives in the future. Loved the movie "Sight" at the end also - REALLY makes one think, and some of the concepts were both fascinating and frightening. Professor Werbach's lectures were engaging and informative, and I was always bummed when each week's lectures were done. Usually, I'd finish the entire week in one evening; yes, they were that interesting! I highly recommend this course for ANYONE, be it for business purposes or just plain fun. Thanks, Professor Werbach & Coursera for offering this course & sharing this information with the world. FTW!!!!
This was my very Coursera course, and was part of the "pioneer", first Coursera class, so we all learned together. The lectures were interesting and informative and I learned much about the internet that I never knew, at all levels indicated: history, technology and security. Dr. Chuck's lectures were really interesting & engaging and I REALLY loved the fact that he included his one-on-one interviews with the actual pioneers of the internet as well. These were just amazing, and I felt really honored to be able to view these interviews with folks such as Robert Cailliau, Joseph Hardin, Tim Berners-Lee & Jeff Bezos. Pretty awesome. It was also cool to be part of the very first online version of this class and to learn along with Dr. Chuck as we went along. Thoroughly enjoyed this course & learned much. Also loved that you could go back and take the quizzes multiple times, so you could actually LEARN the material if you missed it. So many times in actual classes, if you missed questions on a quiz, you really never learned the material. Love this method of learning. Thanks to Dr. Chuck & Coursera for making this course available to the world.
Graduated in 1990, with a BA in English Lit. Probably been just that long since I've read any poetry, sad to say. Signed up for the course, and have really enjoyed it. Have to say that the video discussion between Dr. Al & his TA's have been more interesting & enlightening than any of my actual college courses. The ability to discuss more in-depth with fellow students via discussion forums added much as well. While my own personal interpretation of some poems didn't always jive with Dr. Al's (we all bring different experiences to our poetry, and I think sometimes it's hard to know the exact experience of the writer), I learned so much about additional aspects of a poem to consider that I never learned in college. Dr. Al's passion (as well as his TA's) for Poetry is contagious and while I'm still in week 7 of 10, I really have enjoyed this class! This course is great for poets, those interested in poetry, as well as those with limited exposure with a desire to learn more. Thanks to Dr. Al, his staff & Coursera for this most enjoyable MOOC!
