Having no previous programming experience, this course was too hard. The lectures did not go through most of what was required in the programming assignments, which leaves you to go look it up on your own. Not useful and very frustrating. It gave me a minimal knowledge of R that I needed to move on and take the Data Analysis class, in which I Iearned much more about R
Coming from a background in molecular biology, and little statistics, I learned a tremendous amount from this course, and it gave me a new fascination with data mining and statistics. What I liked was the emphasis on using R programming, which greatly simplifies analysis. The lectures delivered a lot of information, and sometimes topics required additional research to fully understand them. So it was more of a graduate level course. The quizzes were exceptional, in that they were challenging and focused on important points, but not hard or time-consuming. The 2 assignments were time consuming but very beneficial by allowing you to go deeper into specific areas of data analysis. I'd definitely recommend this course.
