Short, and a very brief overview of Archaeology from 'Dig to Lab'. Poor and hard profession that is, has been a victim of my romanticising. A mere basic learning that might be useful when pursued further, which I doubt I might not attempt.
Prof. Lisa Wainwright is the reason I finished this course. Her enthusiasm, charm, humour, authority, and beauty are few facets that made this course a delight. I fervently tried in vain to obtain access to the last two parts of this program. But one day, I shall pursue them merely to prolong this joy that I bid farewell to now. The course for now shall be a memory not alone of the art, but also the passion with which it was taught.
In preparation for the Entrance Test the necessary knowledge required was imparted thoroughly, boosting confidence and skill. The practice tests were useful.
The appreciation of the time and place I live in now is so deep, that I am grateful for my fortune and fervently hope that more peace reigns even long after I depart. This true enlightment dawned only because of Prof. Philip Zelikow, whose impersonal narration of history with nothing but facts, offered me the broadness and awareness of all our past which converged into 'The Present' I live in now. My birth now and here is something I shall guard, cherish, pursue and celebrate for a lifetime to come. A course I shall not and cannot let go, for now it has seeped deeply into my beliefs and understandings. Finally has shown the real me was born when I ought to be, not so late I thought to be. On ending there’s mere Thank you, No “See you again!”...
It evoked a lot of questions and even anatomically addressed the origin of what it stated as the four defining Properties of Mind. Had I not taken a previous Master Class on Consciousness I might have accepted the ‘Anatomy of Consciousness’. But now I am sceptical about it which also declined my interest in the course, so I briefly skimmed over the remaining contents. But the wide variety of topics it chose to address did raise a lot of questions in me and also convinced me of the need for experimental verification before acceptance since most of the conflicting theories seem to be possible. When in need of new ideas I shall revisit this course, since it has a wealth of unexplainable themes. With this I intend to conclude my present probing into Mind and Consciousness.
This course was a journey I looked forward to everyday, a voyage through History that shall continue long after it ends. Prof. Philip Zelikow makes us truly comfortable with his charm and ease. Am about to embark on part 2 with sheer curiosity and excitement.
I only wanted to obtain an overview of human anatomy yet this course seemed to provide a trifle more info. Thus I only retained what I felt was necessary for basic anatomical understanding, so that I can focus upon individual organs in depth through future courses.
One among the best Science courses available. On pursing this course not only did my appreciation of Relativity increase but the usual myth that it’s difficult to understand was shattered. Prof. Larry Lagerstrom has my deep respect and love for teaching such an elaborate course with clarity and beauty. One of the oldest courses I completed, the notes I made back then still is of immense value to me. This course remains as the only source of my Relativity knowledge. Shall always cherish a sincere reverence for Prof. Larry Lagerstrom.
This short course helped me brush up basic grammar rules with minimal effort. Neat and clear organisation of content along with lots of practice exercises. I intend to further focus on various styles of writing with this course as a foundation.
The course almost gave the feeling of being invincible, it inspired in me such fervor that I dreamt of being boundless, it made me dwell on the possibility of choosing art as a profession. Everyday realities became revelations and creativity flourished in every speck and every whine until of course time disillusioned me. Now this remains as a beautiful dream that caught my fancy before fading away from memory.
The course inspired me to write poetry with more fervor and inspiration. The first MOOC I completed on Coursera, and also the only workshop I took part in and was asked to be a mentor for. Those peer reviews were pure delight! Thank you, Prof. Douglas Kearney for rousing me to experiment in poetic styles and abetting me to pursue new poetry MOOCs. Finally, this course also introduced to me a wonderful E-Friend.
An extensive course with recurrent repetitions covering from the origins of war to its transformations until recent times. Thus war is not a simple impulsive, greedy or egoistic response of men, but a much convoluted, intricate process. Though this course had brought in an objective view, it also offered a lot of insights about the real experience. And so finally finishing this 13 weeks course is an achievement I pride in though it took me 9 months! For any further insights can get back to this for the reference books.
What began on my part as seeking a desperate cure for desires and obsessions, evolved into an intricate exploration of human mind, it's functioning and capability. This marked the beginning and desire for a deeper exploration of mind and human body, which I partially weared out by doing other such courses. Perhaps one day I shall fulfil this desire truly and wholly, but for now, it is a parting. Am deeply thankful to Prof. Peggy Mason whose knowledge and enthusiasm brightened the course. It was sad then to see her go, of course, it was with pride and confidence.
An experimental deliverance of content to intense and emphasise 'novelty' and 'variance', two themes of the course. An exploration and celebration of same peice of literature through every mode of criticism and medium. Prof. Philipp Schweighauser's vivacity enhances the beauty of the course. First Mooc ever to present the true laughter behind drab conversations under the rubric of 'Outtakes'. Blessed that this course has unlimited access!
Petite, condensed, yet sprawling course offering an insight through slogans, books, monuments and visual media. First course to be finished in a single bout on the very first day it began.
The first course, where I perused all articles, took time to memorise the convoluted names and also download necessary images. Perhaps this is because of the cheerful enthusiasm of Prof. Anusuya Chinsamy-Turan, who tried to impress upon me her own optimism, but, sadly was lost on my 'Earth shall always rebound, and, after all we are doing no more harm to Earth than to ourselves' outlook. Though this learning shall vanish, the faint aura of knowledge that Earth remains aloof from actual destruction, might cheer me in the long run. Shall be a memory of my first Geology course that immersed me into its strata, and almost briefly spurred me onto Dino 101.
A dream fulfilled in style, serenity, and charm! The sturdy, swift, and witty deliverance of content, compactness and diversity of information, grace and poise of the Instructor, and beauty of animation are few alluring facets of this course. Despite the experience being corrupted by motives of data usage, I relished every moment in true rapture. A wholesome Fashion History that shall serve a reference for every / any fashion endeavor.
This presented me my first certificate from coursera and probably the last one too. Thus, it’s always a pleasant memory to cherish, and of course the content I learnt from this was very valuable. This Spanish specialization I guess will be the highest form of Spanish knowledge I can glean online.
An exploration that spanned weeks, a stimulus that shall resonate for years, a declaration that brought home many voices, an exertion to speculate wildly, a reference for future reflections, and as a remembrance of first independent criticism, this course has many distinctions and extensions. Though meandering and narrow in content, it was elevating and extensive in its outreach. This course, 'The Modern and the Postmodern' shall always remain as a wealth of introductions and a choice of intellect.
An extensive journey that was elevating, monumental and memorable. A course through which I amassed a wealth of art knowledge, a reference for all future explorations.
This second course finally culminated in presenting me a brief overview of the Ancient Philosophy. I often revisit these themes to compare human behaviours over various time periods; for I understood that ancient philosophy marks the onset of human’s desire for an explainable world.
I took a fancy for the title and began the course and lo behold! on completion I repined that it spanned only 4 weeks. The first course which made me yearn for more courses from the same instructor. Prof. Susan Meyer made this course a breeze through, shaping rather confusing themes effortlessly into clear concepts by perfect articulation. This inspired me to explore the world history so as to obtain a brief overview of human ape since it undertook to Bipedalism and is bound remain the igniter of savage fire that shall burn to ravage my beliefs.
This was my first MOOC, I was fascinated and overwhelmed by the wealth of subject Prof. Chis Impey delivered. I only acquainted myself with the minimal basics and marked the rest for further study. Prof. Chis Impey churned my astronomical passion and paved path for a two year obsession with astronomy and its online courses. Thanks to Udemy for introducing me to free knowledge and also presenting me with a certificate!
The fascinating topic on which the course was build on stimulated me to complete the course. The instructors were engaging though the content did not elevate bewitching or fun aspects. The assignments were a trifle too specific removing choices of varied expression and there were few dull moments in the course, but the exiting theme of the course pulled me along. But on whole this not a course I would have let go, for it gave me its own share of joy!
A very extensive course showing the gradual variations in gender representations since conventions were flouted and refinements textured. These changes were portrayed brilliantly from the pastoral paintings to Indigent 21st century works. Though it extended up to 9 weeks, the course held the lure with the beautiful artworks it explored. Such broad range of information was delivered on the very specific topic of gender portrayals in paintings making this a elaborately structured course to indulge in.
Prof. John Seamon made this course an absolute joy! One of the few courses I spent time leisurely (and liberally) watching videos, wholly enjoying every second of it. This course thus retained its own memories for me and I will some day re-visit this just to cherish them!
The course covers extensive topics offering a succinct overview on all the prominent aspects that shaped the 'Human Body'. It detailed upon natural selection, reproduction and formation of brain leading onto how modern world is on-setting a rapid evolution. This has become a reference for me to begin on topic-specific courses to learn in depth. Thank you, Prof Greg Downey for making the course extensively engaging.
