This is a subject I have done a fair amount of reading about and I was really looking forward to this course. I was pretty disappointed though. It wasn't really what I was expecting. I didn't find the lectures very engaging.
I love archaeology and have done quite a bit of reading on my own, so I was very familiar with the topic (and not just through mass media). I subscribe to Archaeology magazine, which is how I heard of this course. I have actually taken it each year it was offered. I think Sue does a wonderful job dispelling the myths about archaeology and exposing the secrets and it is fascinating to hear the reports from the field. The assignments are also very engaging.
I know a little bit about war and a little bit about sociology but am by no means an expert in either. I really enjoyed the course. I think Dr. Centeno did a wonderful job with the material and he raised many interesting points throughout the class.
Fantastic course. The staff were very engaging and provided a lot if information. The animations made the class even more enjoyable. I had a little experience with the subject of infectious diseases and took the course because I wanted to know I more. I definitely do. One of the best MOOCs I have taken. I would highly recommend it.
