This was very definitely a university-level course (i wish it was possible to get an idea of the standard of the various Futurelearn courses before signing up, as they vary so much). I was expecting more of a general overview of corpus linguistics, but the course went into considerable depth, and there was lots of additional reading material available (in addition to the main course material). I had studied some linguistics previously, but not really touched on corpus linguistics, and felt the course gave me some real insights into this area.
I found this a very interesting and engaging course. The use of historical artefacts as a 'way in' to each week's topic was very effective, and the course videos were very good. The course covers several of the plays, and you need either a good knowledge of these or sufficient time to study them to get the most out of the course.
Very basic and superficial - I felt it was more 'school project' level than a university course. The online community was sometimes dominated by Richard III society who came across as rather obsessive.
