This course is probably the most refined and best delivered online course I have ever attended. Prof. Weissman's enthusiasm is unbounded, and it comes across with such vigor in his delivery. The content was amazing - the animations, in particular, helped explain the examples thoroughly. And of course, the activities and quizzes were at the correct level of intricacy and challenge. There is also major overlap between this course and my sysadmin position in my current employment, it's uncanny. This course could not have come at a perfect time. I wish it went on for a few more weeks... Not only was the delivery excellent, but there were a few "jaw-dropping" moments, which, like most shocks, gets the point across. Highly recommend this and the entire micromasters if you were considering a change in career, or as I am doing, adding cybersecurity to my sysadmin "utility belt". ("I'm Batman!") ;)

As a sysadmin almost all my adult life (professionally, since I was 20!), I really, really enjoyed brushing up on my networking and security skills with the course content. This course fits in with the security element of my new job (I'm six months with a company involved in Financial Services) and as I was giving "Information Security Awareness" presentations on behalf of the IT Manager during the same period, I was able to bring in much of the lecture content to "massage" the slide, allowing more dynamics during the presentation. Prof. Weissman has a uniquely engaging attitude to his videos, that intrigues you and makes you want to see what's coming next. It doesn't come across that he is talking "at" you at all; humour and real-world examples put the content into perspective. In no way will you get bored of this! :) The animations were also a terrific way to visualise the more technical concepts (and brush up those that... ahem... should know...) A huge bonus was the discussion platform and the RIT support team - engaging with others demonstrated the vast range of skill sets and knowledge bring brought in - the team that constructed this course can only use this to make the course delivery even better (although it's so good, it's hard to improve on perfection, right? :) ) Two things did irk me a little, (but not enough to take off any stars): First, simply - the transcripts/closed captions could do with a little work - alternative words substituted may slightly adversely affect those whose native language isn't English, and possibly confuse a little. Second: some of the questions in the quizzes seem to be a play on words, rather than attempting to gauge a full understanding of the topics. I observed this a few times - once or twice would have been enough. Again, these are just minor - could be just me! ;) But in all honestly, how many networking classes have you ever been to where there are comparisons drawn up to "Die Hard"? :D Thank you, Prof. Weissman, RIT and edX. A fantastic course, excellent support and a terrific platform.
