Course Description

Participating elementary, middle, high school, and college instructors will work in grade level groups evaluating their students’ writing over the course of a semester. Participants will administer similar writing strategy lessons, use common grade level writing prompts, and mentor students using an automated essay scoring system (AES) and peer review protocols. The MOOC will support practicing K-12 teachers in analyzing student writing, providing effective feedback, and evaluating writing instruction. Teachers will learn techniques for coaching students on improving their academic writing.
