I took the UX Design course early this year based on a referral from a trusted friend who was starting the course herself. Hopefully her experience has been more pleasant-- mine has been very, very bad. About two months into the course, my mentor (who is exceptionally experienced in the field and very supportive) had a life event. That's fine, things come up, and he explained kindly that it would take him about four weeks to get back to supporting his students. Fast forward to over 2 months later, I am absolutely in the dark-- mentor nowhere to be found, CF saying they'll take care of it, but no report of any progress. Basically, I am scared I am wasting a few thousand dollars. They refused the refund that I requested, seeing as how I am now four months into a 6-month course, and half of that time has been wasted without any guidance. I don't know my legal options either (a few thousand dollars is nothing to just let go) as the... I don't know my legal options either (a few thousand dollars is nothing to just let go) as the company is based in Germany. Curriculum is informative, but often disjointed form the assignments. Honestly, it was the mentor support that was making this course function, and now with that gone and no sign of returning, I am very upset. If my experience changes significantly for the better, I will modify this review. At the moment, I suggest everyone stay away from the course.

The mentor makes or breaks this course. Mine was not great (not responsive, and offered little good/constructive feedback) so I felt like I was all on my own. I was about 6 weeks late finishing the course and when I did- nothing. No certificate or badge or anything. It is quite intensive but much easier at first (so do lots of assignments in the beginning as you will need more time at the end). Does it teach you UX? Yes. Is it worth the price? Probably. Especially with the $ back guarantee if you don't find a course. But there are many pitfalls: poorly designed course structure, assignments that don't parallel the lectures, etc. I highly recommend abandoning their sample project of designing a project management app and find your own project that is meaningful, that you will enjoy working on, and that you can use after the course is over.

I recently finished my Web Development course at Career Foundry. First of all: I can really recommend Career Foundry to anyone, who wants to learn about coding and stay motivated. The course material is clearly structured and the length of each lesson is just right. I was able to work through multiple lessons on one day and spend more days on one lesson, if I got to a more difficult topic. My mentor kept me motivated to stay on track and was very supportive. I was able to send him a lot of messages and he responded to all of them and explained a lot to me, even in addition to our weekly hour Skype call. Unfortunately the course material was not as comprehensive as I had hoped. I would have liked to learn much more - particularly about JavaScript. The lessons on JavaScript are only giving you an idea of JS and you learn just enough to somehow know, what's going on. On the other hand the heart of the course is the Ruby on Rails... The lessons on JavaScript are only giving you an idea of JS and you learn just enough to somehow know, what's going on. On the other hand the heart of the course is the Ruby on Rails part. That is very detailed and you learn everything you need, to build a full featured web application. Career Foundry was quite supportive to help me get an idea of what to do next (finding jobs, starting to freelance etc.). But the actual step you have to do on your own. I can recommend this online course to anyone, who wants to learn about web development in general. For that money you get the best possible education out there and a great support from a great community! However, if you would like to learn about JavaScript or new HTML5 element, like Canvas, I would recommend looking for something else. Because that's really not covered at CF (for now - I have to mention, that they are continuously updating their course material. During my three months, I experienced three major updates, including them adding a full new section of material)
