I've done the first part of the course, which by the way is free to take. I found it informative but a bit boring as the tutorial video doesn't quite capture the viewer's interest. After there are some interesting exercises on matching fonts. Unfortunately couldn't continue to parts 2 & 3 without paying.

Fundamentals of web design will give you a good basics if you are new at learning web design. This course cover design history, typography, color and many more interesting web design aspects. But Pluralsight recently acquires codeschool so this is going to affect codeschool a lot. Meanwhile you can [enjoy codeschool at 9 dollars for the first month](http://Enjoy codeschool at 9 dollars for the first month).

This is definitely a new area of education for Code School, and they have done a fantastic job on this fundamentals course. They cover the basics and spark further curiosity into what goes into making a great web design. You will never look at font the same again, and every color scheme you see around the web will make you wonder what kind of motivation went into creating it. Even if design is not in your job description, this is the perfect course to understand what a designer is thinking and will help improve dev/designer relations overall. I can't wait to see what they come up with next!

I found this course very easy to follow and informative, it covers the fundamentals but you will still learn a lot of things that you generally don't see in everyday tutorials. The best part for me was the color section, I have always struggled with colors but now I understand how colors can compliment each other and how to achieve that. I hope there will be a follow up course!

I have learned mostly all of this information before in school; but never was the fundamentals of design displayed, taught, or as interactive as it was in this course! I am thoroughly pleased and even delighted with the experience of re-learning these core concepts, and I fully recommend this course to other beginners, or those with experience.

I really enjoyed Fundamentals of Design, the information was practical and very informative, even for someone who's done design work before. I love CS's approach, the videos rocked as always and the challenges instructive and insightful.

To be honest, I was very skeptical about this course upon first reading about it. To me, web design was a complicated and involved process that was dependent upon a large number of variables. I wasn't sure how Code School was going to compartmentalize all of those variables into a simple course on how design the web. Having completed the course now, I can say that I'm pleasantly surprised that they pulled it off. This course guides you through many dos- and-don'ts of web design and then introduces you to some common design practices regarding color schemes, font selections, and layout placement. There was almost no information in this course that I did not find valuable. The only reason I'm giving the course a 4 is because the challenges felt a little.. forced on me.

I was excited for this course to come out and wasn't disappointed. Once again, great job Code School! I would love to see more courses like this--or maybe screencasts, but on things such as designing in Photoshop/Gimp and converting to HTML/CSS as well as how to get great images (photography or stock images) for design. Thanks for this course... I really got a lot of the font classifications discussed in this course, and their usage (for example, humanist sans serif fonts being good for government or educational applications). I haven't found that kind of info anywhere else. The HSL color model discussion was very informative and helpful as well.
