I was really impressed with the Try Objective-C mini course. In under an hour I was able to grasp the basic concepts of Objective-C and how it's different from other languages. I'd tried learning Objective-C in the past and the syntax really got in the way of my being able to pick it up as easily as I had with other languages. Obviously, the syntax is still an issue, but presented in Code School's typical fashion I was able to get past those kinds of things with ease. Highly recommended.

Thanks to you, Objective-C looks like piece of cake to me. That's awesome since I always felt afraid of it and never had the guts to learn it. Awesome work guys!

Hey guys, I wanted to let you know what you are doing is awesome. I completed the course fairly easily but that's because I had previous experience with Objective-C. I was able to complete some of the excercises without actually doing what the specs said so you might want to review that. Please continue expanding not only in Objective-C but also in other languages (like Java).

It was generally a very good tutorial on Objective-C. The flow was nice and steady, and the art of style was very good. The only problem Ive had, is that I wish that I could have jumped over some lectures.

Overall it was a good introduction to Objective-C. I am actually learning the language using other material right now and figured I would give this a go. I felt the course was very clear up until it got to protocols and it got a little sketchy for a bit, but then got back on track. I do feel that this is definitely a course for people with prior programming and OOP experience due to the fast nature.

If I remember correctly, the part about fast enumeration with for, there was no mention of the proper syntax in the text, for(NSString * token in collection). Otherwise thumbs up, this might have been the initial push I needed to finally get into programming for iOS; I have always been intimidated by the alien syntax of obj-C. So thank you for this mini-course. (Also grrr for making it exciting, I couldn't put it down, yet I was supposed to work on my thesis on a tight schedule... :) ) cheers

Hi, The course was good. The last world got a bit complicated and it would have been better if we did something else. Maybe implement something from scratch to wrap all we learnt and make something useful. Also when I Click "Show answer" and I go back to file tabs the "Answer" tab shows up in a very weird way. Using Chrome on Mac. All in all, good stuff.

First of all: I loved the course. Especially for a free course, this one was very thorough and extremely beautifully designed. Just one minor improvement: In the "levels" where inheritance is introduced, it is spelled "inherit_e_nce" several times. Thanks a lot!

The course was great. I liked very muck the jokes and I learned a lot of Objective-C. But, I think there was too much bugs along the course. Some texts was missing some review, and on the switch lesson I didn`t need to change the cases to the enum values to complete the challenge. Thanks for the lessons

This is a really great service, which makes learning syntax/methods for a new language an interactive endeavor. It's actually fun! The only possible recommendation I would make: do less of the coding for the student. Some of the exercises, having me only fill in a variable name or simple expression, might miss out on the educative value of repeated input of the language's syntax, the training of the muscle-memory, as it were. Thanks again!

This course is plenty of fun, quick to complete, and gives a great introduction to programming in Objective-C. I give it a 4 instead of a 5 for a couple reasons: - There were several typos and random issues with the course. I've submitted those through support. - The Mr. Higgie running across the top of the screen seemed excessive. Without some interaction control (he does some exciting moves/tricks if I write better code?), it's gratuitous animation and not so compelling. And in level 2, he ran right past the snowman, when I was specifically warned to watch out for the snowman -- and I have no control over what he does. What's up with that? - The different islands were a nice touch, but it would have been even nicer if I actually progressed to various spots on each island as I move through the challenges. They seemed a prop more than anything else. Overall, great course, good organization of content, nice presentation. Just a few th... Just a few things I'd have done differently. :-) I certainly recommend everyone do this course. It won't take you more than a few hours, and it's worth every minute.

I've been programming for a while and always meant to look into Objective C. This course was great for a quickstart. I only wished you'd explain what zones are better or not deal with them. Everything else was awesome :)

Amazing stuff! There were a couple of places that would have been obvious to someone who knows Objective-C well, but not so obvious to a complete novice (ex: needing square brackets for the example with [self class]). Still with the show answer it was obvious, so that's a nice touch.

I always wanted to learn Objective-C, so that I could learn iOS and Cocoa programming. But, it always seemed so tedious and arcane, even though I am a somewhat experienced programmer. This course made it feel bearable and doable. I feel grateful and thankful for being able to take this course.
