Absolutely the best free jQuery course out there(and I checked out many, including the one on official jQuery website.) I combined this course with Derek B.tutorial on You Tube-these two really worked their magic!

A short and sweet introduction to JQuery. It's recommended to take the Javascript and HTML & CSS courses first. This is one of the better codeacademy offerings, but as usual it only covers the very basics and you can complete the whole thing in one sitting.

A good introduction to JQuery for those who are completely new to it. Being able to see results as you type makes the process more fun and makes it easier to learn. They give you plenty of practice so you actually have a chance of remembering it. I did experience some problems, though. Often when starting a new exercise, it had "forgotten" the code from the previous exercises that should have been carried over. I ended up having to copy and paste, which got very tiresome when I had HTML and CSS and JQuery files. I hope it was just a temporary bug, because otherwise, I really enjoyed the experience. You will want to supplement this course with more extensive projects using JQuery, but this is a fine first start.

I took this course after completing the HTML & CSS course on CodeAcademy, and it's been a great experience. The jQuery track introduces concepts in digestible bite-sized chunks, starting from the basics of how to set up a jQuery script and progressing to different manipulations of HTML elements. Repetition is key here - each lesson starts with setting up the document from scratch, effectively reinforcing everything from the previous lessons. Highly recommended for any beginners interested in learning how to make interactive websites.
