A "see through" glance in Bussiness Operations. The analogy of theory and practical examples is great, the course completion would be much more difficult with all these mathematical examples if the team haven't spent so much effort previously. Maybe some parts of video lectures could take place in real world operations...Excellent work from Mr Terwiesch and his team.

Prof. Christian Terwiesch conveys this course in the most professional manner. I have taken another course with Coursera at the same time, and unintentionally I had to opportunity to compare both teachers. I was truly impressed with Christian's teaching style, organisation and commitment. The lectures are short and full of purpose, exercises follow to the point what have been covered in class and classes have a personal touch to them - of course Professor's charisma and dry sense of humor help great deal.

This course was filled with engaging lectures and challenging practice and homework questions. As a fundamentals class, you should be prepared to learn many basic components of operations management, many of which are formula- driven. Comfort with algebra and working with formulas is an absolute must. The professor does a very nice job of discussing the quantitative aspects of the concepts by also applying them to real situations in which he has been involved. I highly recommend the course and Prof. Terwiesch.

Having been out of the academic world for a number of years I was looking forward to the opportunity to take a university course. The course exceeded my expectations. The quality of the video and the overall material was unbelievable. I have attended in person education/training with a significant price tag that was not as polished and not as effective. Going into the course I was not sure what to expect so my expectations were light. With that said the enthusiasm of Christian and the clarity of the material were exceptional. As to improvements – access to the material prior to viewing the lecture sessions would be a significant improvement. Once the material was posted typically a week after the videos were online I would watch the videos a second time and was able to focus more on the content and less on the action of note taking. Though the math was not exceptionally difficult this is where I spent the majority of my time on the homework sessions. From the material I understood the desired outcome – getting there was the challenge

The course helped me to understand how seemingly difficult to measure processes could be expressed in mathematical terms. This will be useful in my work to maximize productivity and efficiency.

the course can be applied in your operations, although I thought a bit more extensive and detailed course will be great. Christian and the team worked very cohesively and all the lectures are easy to follow up. Especially, when it is with subtitles. Thank you so much, Christian and the team! (:

University of Pennsylvania's online offering of An Introduction to Operations Management was indeed a great learning experience. The video lectures were were concise and engaging. The examples provided from real world situations provided better understanding of the subject matter. The practice problems and the homework assignments were just right to help apply one's knowledge after learning from the lectures. The modules were well organised and followed a logical sequence. However, I suggest some of the topics, such as Quality be dealt with a little greater detail, with a little more focus on current trends. All in all, Mr. Terwiesch made the distance of thousands of miles feel really short and provided a very fruitful experience.

This course was a bit out of my area, and my first experience with a business class. I found this introduction to process analysis easy and practical. It was a good break from the intensive mathematical classes I have been taking, and yet I am able to apply the ideas to many areas in my employment. Perhaps the most valuable part of the course is the practice problems. The instructor provided a set of the problems, which used the ideas from the lectures in different ways. In addition, solutions were provided as well as an optional long lecture where the professor works out the problems. The graded assignments were similar to, but not exactly the same as, the practice problems. I recommend this class to anyone who might become a manager, even in the service industry.

I had already studied the basics of operations management, but with this course I have successfully deepened my knowledge about the issue. The course is adapted to be able to be taken without any previous knowledge, but takes you to the hot spot in operations management and gives a wide view of what does OM mean. I highly encourage anyone willing to learn more about this matter to take this short and thorough course.

Very helpful in my current work. Great content and structure. May sound a little weird but I was actually looking forward to new lectures. Engaging, challenging and rewarding (someone wrote that already). And definitely A LOT OF FUN. I strongly recommend this course to everyone who wants to learn more about operations or simply brush up on what they already know. Thanks Christian for your hard work and for stretching my business related horizons. 'Best'

I'm in sales and took part to the course to know a little bit more about the production's side of a company. Well, this was very interesting, once you start seeing everything around you with Operation Manager eyes, you can spot inefficiencies and bottlenecks. You don't need to be in production, I applied the principles lernt to emprove my office work. A course to recommend, Alfredo Stefani

This was one of the most rewarding course I have taken recently. Most interesting thing for me was the examples from our everyday life activities around Starbucks, Subway and hospital operations management. Any professional should be able to benefit from this course by understanding and improving the operations around his or her profession.

Excellent course, on the basis of which I am teaching my students an Operations Management course. I recommend buying the Cachon and Terwiesch textbook if you are an educator, and plan to teach an OM course in future.

Extensive course, prof Terwiesch knows how to manage a course in order to be engaging. It motivated me to practice, required some individual work with excel working on the cases/exercises provided. Even though I had some experience with optimisation of processes the course brought loads of new knowledge and inspired me on how to apply the tools to a service sector. I highly recommend it, the best from 3 courses I took at coursera till now. Great community that supported the learning process with interesting discussions, examples etc.

This course was very useful for me - I certainly learnt more through this 6-week course than I did from the Operations Management module in my MBA. There is considerable focus on the service industry which requires a lot more attention these days as there is already quite a lot of research and studies done on manufacturing processes. However, manufacturing is not ignored either. Overall, a very good introduction (and more) to Operations Management. The course requires a good understanding of math and basic business terms and principles, so it is recommended for people who are familiar with operations and finance in their regular work. A good knowledge of English will aid in better understanding of the course material. Professor Christian Terwiesch is great - very clear in his speech and well-structured in his delivery. And he says the funniest things without twitching any other muscle, which is fascinating.

\- Mr. Terwiesch's messages were very clear and explanatory with a substantial number of examples. \- Videos were not bored; theory always was accompanied with real-life examples in order to be easily understood \- As an introductory course, to the subject matter, I do not think that it needs anything else; what is needed is an "Advanced" course in order to take knowledge gained a step further!

A good course. I enjoyed the material and presentation style. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in picking up a good, operational understanding of the subject. The material was not taking or too time consuming and was kept interesting. The discussion forums were active and was also a constant source of learning.

I enjoyed this course. Christian presents the subject systematically. There are plenty of examples in the lectures and more for practice at home. These examples helped me solve the assignment questions. Though the book is not essential for taking this course, I purchased a copy and found it very helpful. I would have liked the course to have covered further advanced topics. I have not come across any other MOOCs on this subject so I really cannot compare this course with any other. As an instructor Christian is one of the best and I've become a great fan of his. I would encourage everyone who ever thought why it takes so long for a customer to be served by a call center (which would cover a significant population of this planet) to take this course to find out the answer.
