Good course to understand the interaction between China and the world. Although already a few years old the content is still very valid. Especially the discussions at the end were great to follow. Also the case studies connecting theory with practive. Only downside was that just a few other students followed the course so student interaction or peer review was minumal.

The course was fantastic, just want I had expected. Specifically, in needed to know about China’s political economy and its strategies as it guides it rise as a global power. This course has offered more than I had expected. Now, I know a little about China’s internal politics, including the fact that there are factions within the communist party. These things are not so obvious to the public. I also have some understanding about China’s approach to foreign policy in the past and the shift that has occurred over the last few years. China is becoming more assertive, yet very conscious not offset its relationship with the United States. What is more impressive is the instructor of the course, David Zweig. The instructor was phenomenal, presenting the lectures with absolute clarity and ease of explanation. I definitely enjoy his lectures and the question and answer format of his guest lecturers.

This course was so helpful in understanding the world today! I read, or watched, the news and could relate it to the history and philosophy discussed in the course and recognize the different perspectives of the American and Chinese leaders.

I was impressed with the slides and notes as it made it easier to learn with audio. The course was more challenging then I thought and there is a lot to know. Being from Canada it gave me a different perspective on China's history and economics within International Relations. I would most definitely recommend China Politics 1 and 2 to any student from a university taking political science or philosophy. Professor Zweig does a great job, Well done !

Very comprehensive. Cover many aspects of the rising China. The final panel discussion give me many insights regarding to various opinions within China. Although it took me longer than expected time to finish this course, as any concepts are new to me, and some ping-yi I need to google to understand it; I still recommend this course to whomever is interested the changing climate of International relationship between China and the world
