This course far exceeded my expectations, bringing together an overview of the history of disease and disease treatment from vaccination. The methods for developing treatment for major disease have no doubt been refined dramatically over the last century. This course seeks to debunk misinformation about vaccines that have been a major issue over the past decade and a half, which has led to recent outbreaks of diseases such as Measles. As such, this course is timely. Though there is evidence as to the worth of vaccines, we also have to deal with numerous psychological effects that have resulted in people believing in dodgy studies.

I loved this course! Very straightforward information about vaccines...the history, the controversies, etc. Great for anyone who has ever questioned anything in regard to vaccines. I feel like I really understand the importance of vaccines and could explain to friends who have fear of having their children vaccinated.

Excellent set of straight-forward lectures by Dr. Offit. I particularly found the history of the development of the various forms of vaccines and the debunking of the specific issues and concerns that are harbored by those who are anti-vaccination to be most illuminating.

Fantastic course. Very interesting and easy to follow. Dr. Offit is a great speaker. The content is not science-heavy so I would recommend it to anyone who is even slightly interested in public health, regardless of their background.

This course clarified the facts for me and dispelled the myths. Dr. Offit spoke to the layman, making this course accessible to all. We need an educated public to help overcome all the false information the media likes to spread. This course goes a long way toward educating the public.

Paul Offit is one of the world's leading experts on vaccines, and a co- developer of one of the rotavirus vaccines. As such, it is a privilege to be able to follow his lectures, something only a happy few would normally ever be able to do, given the American educational (and medical) system of limiting access to education to those who can afford it. This course is not a traditional university course because it doesn't contain any in-depth information developers of vaccines and people with some responsibility above and beyond that for themselves and their own immediate family members would need. That said, it provides a lot of evidence-based information that should allow the lay public to understand what vaccines are, what they are for, how safe they are, why they are worth using and what their effects are on the general population. The course also provides information and evidence that allows people to evaluate the credibility of the... The course also provides information and evidence that allows people to evaluate the credibility of the claims made by the oft-vocal antivax movement. The team that supports the course is great. They are far more responsive than one would expect from a course with several tens of thousands of followers, and they don't respond with meaningless boilerplate either. Their replies are evidence-based, not some vaguely plausible made-up nonsense. Executive summary: if the subject interests you at all, you should take this course.

As a Biotech MSc I knew quite a lot on the topic, but wanted to tidy and expand my knowledge. This course is designed for people with little knowledge on the topic, especially for young parents, who really want to know the science behind vaccines. The graded excersises often asked about trivia from the lectures, which made them difficult to pass and left a feeling of distaste. The lecturer speaks very fast, but the lectures themselves are engaging. I would recommend to enroll and watch the videos, but not take the quizzes and complete the course.
