I think this course was absolutely amazing! It covered so many aspects of Ancient Egyptian History and I really liked that they included all the facts in the videos in a sequential order. I learnt a lot about Ancient Egyptian history that I never knew of. I found the exercises, assignments and the quizzes extremely beneficial with sticking the facts in my mind. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in ancient history as it is a great foundation for further education!

This was a fantastic introductory course. It covered all the basics in a way that has left me wanting to learn more. It would be perfect for someone with little or no knowledge of Ancient Egypt who would like a starting place that provides enough content to keep it interesting not so detailed that the beginner becomes lost. Absolutely loved it and looking forward to more courses form BAx.

I wish i could spend a month just learning from these professors very informative to the point. I hope to learn how to look at hieroglyphics and read them without asking what they are. I hope you have a course in verbal pronunciations of all the old egyptian languages.

I think this course was an exciting experience. Everything was so interesting and it really made you search for more about Ancient Egypt. The instructors responses to the students questions were immediate and very useful. I would like the content to be more visualised and the presentations more interactive (for example showing comments made by tourists visiting a monument etc). Anyway the course was wonderful and the instructors were lovely!

It's been a wonderful experience! The course has been easy to follow and, although it is more a general introduction to different topics related to the ancient Egypt people (architecture. writing, culture, mythology, society, medicine...) it has made me to discover new details about this incredible civilization. The instructors are lovely. They know well the content and explain it in an understandable way - even for those who meet the Egyptian culture for the very first time. The topics are explained clearly and concise what makes the course enjoyable and brief. I hope there will be more related courses as soon as possible, especially delve into medicine, mythology and hieroglyphs. Thanks for this wonderful experience to all the team that made it possible!

Thank you so much Dr. Ahmed Borham and Marwa Assem for a wonderful course. I have learned so much about ancient Egyptian civilization and have enjoyed every part of the course. My particular favourites were the units on Women in Ancient Egypt, and Medicine in Ancient Egypt. Ancient Egypt was so advanced in many respects, particularly in giving women a much higher profile and more rights than other ancient civilizations did. It is no wonder Egypt is proud of her past: you have so much to be proud of! I am keen to learn more about ancient Egypt now. Best wishes.

Great course -- fed my long standing fascination with Ancient Egypt. It was very well presented, and a lot of fun. The only problem was that it wasn't long enough, so I really hope BAx will be presenting similar courses soon. The transcript of the commentary was excellent; this is important to me because I use that to study. More graphics could have been useful and I'm afraid the discussion forums were not robust but this is the fault of the students, not the presenters. Such an excellent course and such a joy to have it presented by the Alexandria University. A course about the Library and cultural developments around it would be great. Congratulations tot he presenters and everyone involved with the course.

This is an easy introduction to ancient egyptian history. It gives you a taste of the culture of the time and certainly leads to many more questions due to Egypt's vast and impressive history. I look forward to more courses on this topic.

This was a very enjoyable introduction course to Ancient Egypt. I really hope that a more in depth course will be offered at some time in the future. I have one gripe with the ways the tests were set up, you could not not get 100% since you could change your answers as many times as you wanted to in order to pass. I think it would be more challenging if this was changed. But, over all, great course.

I enjoyed this course very much, because it covered different aspects of Ancient Egyptian history, architecture, and culture. This course covered the better known aspects of Ancient Egypt--its pyramids, temples, rulers, gods, goddesses, and mummification practices, but also covered the Ancient Egyptians' amazing knowledge of astronomy and medicine, their development of language and writing, their hieroglyphs, their use of the papyrus plant as a writing surface, their numerical system, how their long-lasting society was structured and how ordinary people worked and lived, and on and on. This well-designed and interesting introductory course has inspired me to search for other online courses to reinforce and advance my knowledge about Ancient Egypt. I study Ancient Egypt not for credit, but for my own personal interest. It's a fun and fascinating subject that never bores, and, as new discoveries are unearthed by archeologists, linguist... I enjoyed the course but felt there was too much attention on medicine and there should have been a part on their armies, warfare and trade. And at times Marwa was just reading the notes which made it uninteresting. As this was my first online course with edX it was very good and can't wait to do more courses.

It was a real pleasure to have studied this course. Even though I have have studied Egyptology on my own, and taken several other online Egyptology courses, I did learn something new. The course was easy to follow, and well presented. This is the perfect course for someone wanting to get a good introduction to Ancient Egyptian History. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in Ancient Egypt.

Poorly done course. The girl presenter was, frankly, not satisfactory. Dreadful to listen to someone merely reading from a script and not taking their eyes off it to look at the audience. A pity because this course theme deserved the best. I suggest authors take a look at how it is done in other online courses. They could do it so much better if they tried to imagine they were giving a course in a normal classroom to a live audience.

Loved this class. Thank you so much for educating me on ancient Egypt. So much rich history. So much knowledge. I really appreciate learning about astronomy and medicine and the pyramids and the Sphinx and masalas and temples and delving into the time period in which all of this took place. Imhotep is my hero!

There was some decent content to the course, but some of it was iffy. I don't think the information about the Pyramids was entirely correct. I don't believe they were ever used as tombs, because there isn't sufficient writing on the walls, and no mummies were ever found in them, and more. And how they were built is highly questionable. None of that was mentioned. The worst of it was that it was all read, including the headings. So it lacked the personal passion of the readers. Anyone could have read it aloud. That was terrible. Also, the woman was very hard to understand. She spoke too fast and her words were too garbled. I learned a few things I didn't know, but I don't feel this course was presented well.
