Course Description

What do self-driving cars, face recognition, web search, industrial robots, missile guidance, and tumor detection have in common?

They are all complex real world problems being solved with applications of intelligence (AI).

This course will provide a broad understanding of the basic techniques for building intelligent computer systems and an understanding of how AI is applied to problems.

You will learn about the history of AI, intelligent agents, state-space problem representations, uninformed and heuristic search, game playing, logical agents, and constraint satisfaction problems.

Hands on experience will be gained by building a basic search agent. Adversarial search will be explored through the creation of a game and an introduction to machine learning includes work on linear regression.

Programming projects are insanely addictive (and also time sink)... to write and AI to compete on playing a game is very challenging but rewarding. Grading is strict so i do not get perfect score:(

Thank you for offering this very comprehensive AI course with good balance of theory and practice. The lectures provided the foundation and theory while the programming projects really challenge our understanding of concepts.

The videos are blunt with the instructor reading from the slides, often repeating some content. This makes the presentation of the content much less appealing than the content itself. The quizzes contain many grammar errors.

So far so good. I think the class is first time being run, but the teachers are extremely helpful and responsive on discussion board and listen to many student feedback. I think about the assignments all the time!

It is the worst online course I have ever attended. Unprepared instructor, bad presentation of the material, a complete mess.

Unprepared speakers. Un enrolled and using other AI courses. Instructors please the bare minimum invest in a monitor to read thorough.

The instructor only reads her slides and glosses over important terms or distinctions between terms. It is a shame since AI is a very interesting field and teaching the basis correctly is very important - incorectly discerning between AI terms and approaches can mean the end of an interview. The content has errors, duplications (e.g 2.4 -> DFS is included twice in the video) and is generally a teleprompter for the instructor. The bigger picture of how to identify, plan and implement AI opportunities is missing completely. Too bad. There are better courses & sources out there.

overall very good. the content follows the AMA book, which almost all AI courses use as the textbook. Professor gives very clear explanation about the concepts and algorithms. But since this is only an introductory course, the machine learning part is only scratching the surface, and I think it can be reduced to just one week lecture. No need to spend too much time on it since ColumbiaX offers another ML course. highly recommended.

Enrolled to take a quick peak at some of the content and I only have one question: Are they serious with this garbage? Pathetic lecturing at best. How some people paid for this is beyond my comprehension.

Although this course is a little tough but very interesting . It starts from the scratch and goes into a web of complex programming. In short I am feeling lucky to be enrolled in this course . I am extremely grateful to all the people who are part of arranging this beautiful course for the global community .

I like both the course and the instructor. Very helpful for understanding the hot topics in AI. It can help in developing a good foundation for more advanced courses.

I'm quite disappointed with this course. I'm struggling to finish it because I'm very interested in the topic, and because I think I've learned a lot with the first two projects. But: the video lectures are extremely dull, the lecturer is just reading some notes out loud. They're directly inspired by the book by Russell & Norvig, which is so much clearer than the lectures themselves. The videos have too many repeated sections, and the captions have way too many mistakes. Quite below edX standards, I would say...

I took this course hoping to find out what is new in AI and to "beta test" it for my company for potential employees interested in the subject and micromasters program. OK so not much has changed in AI and the standard textbook is used. That is fine. I am very unhappy with the wording of the quizzes and with the length of time the projects take. A large portion of the time is due to the enforcement of python coding. However much of the projects could be much more streamlined to focus on the AI topic at hand. Instead it becomes more of a coding class, rather than an AI class. The lectures are also mediocre at best, especially based on the expectations of the quizzes and projects. Overall I do not plan on recommending this program to my company, which is a shame as I was very excited about it.

The projects are interesting and fun, but the instructor is particularly bad. She says "so" about every fifth word. She frequently stops and restarts sentences which makes it hard to follow what she's saying. She speaks quickly and without clarity. I find the lectures frustrating to watch.

I have been following this course and my opinion is that is bellow edx standards. Of the 20 courses or so that I have done in edx and other online platforms this is one I find less interesting. The approach to the subject is very superficial and the instructor seems to be reading some notes at high speed instead of teaching from experience. For learning machine learning it is much cheaper and better the MOOC course by Andrew Ng, which explains the algorithms in detail providing lots of insights (and the projects seems to be designed to learn instead to waste the time of the student).

The teacher speaks a little faster, and the quiz problem and project is boring, it seems that the teacher requires us to memorize the materials, not realize it. The good thing is that the project allows python 3, while other open course use only python 2. Overall, i won't recommend this course to other learner.

I find the content fascinating, which is why I'm still here. The instructor is well, what I do now is download the handouts and copy the lecture text so I don't have to listen to the dull, uninformative, MONOTONE that is supposed to pass for some kind of Pedagogy. Also, I discovered the course in the Berkeley Archive. I may drop this course and work with that one because the instructors are a lot more fun, use a lot of visuals, and just generally seem to have automated much more of the material than the instructor here. I think what she's doing is basically copying from the book.

the presentations are pathetic.. no time put in to it. The teacher reads all the slides, which gives the feeling she don't really understands what she is talking about. Assignments are interesting, but in order to get it done you will need look for information everywhere else except the course material provided... I paid for the course which I would not recommend for any one else, I just wish I could get my manny back
