Want to learn about circuits and electronics, but unsure where to begin? Wondering how to make computers run faster or your mobile phone battery last longer? This free circuit course taught by edX CEO and MIT Professor Anant Agarwal and colleagues is for you.

This is the first of three online Circuits & Electronics courses offered by Professor Anant Agarwal and colleagues at MIT, and is taken by all MIT Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) majors.

Topics covered include: resistive elements and networks; circuit analysis methods including KVL, KCL and the node method; independent and dependent sources; linearity, superposition, Thevenin & Norton methods; digital abstraction, combinational gates; and MOSFET switches and small signal analysis. Design and lab exercises are also significant components of the course.

This is the first of three online Circuits & Electronics courses offered by Professor Anant Agarwal and colleagues at MIT, and is taken by all MIT Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) majors.

Topics covered include: resistive elements and networks; circuit analysis methods including KVL, KCL and the node method; independent and dependent sources; linearity, superposition, Thevenin & Norton methods; digital abstraction, combinational gates; and MOSFET switches and small signal analysis. Design and lab exercises are also significant components of the course.

Weekly coursework includes interactive video sequences, readings from the textbook, homework, online laboratories, and optional tutorials. The course will also have a final exam. 

This is a self-paced course, so there are no weekly deadlines. However, all assignments are due by June 15, 2019, when the course will close.

Brilliant course! It's definitely the best introduction to electronics in Universe! Interesting material, clean explanations, well prepared quizzes, challenging homeworks and fun labs. I had no prior experience in electronics and decided to take this class when realized that for my home microcontroller experiments it's necessary to have better understanding of electronics basics. And this course exceeded my expectations. And yes - it takes some time (even more than NLP class), and you have to remember some math to complete this class (Hint for lazy people: WolframAlpha is an invaluable assistent for homeworks). Pros: \- extremely useful and well-prepared lectures. \- artistic lecturer \- provided electronic book not only very usefull but also interesting reading \- In-brouser circuit simulator for Labs \- additional materials - tutorials and demonstrations \- quizzes really tests your understanding \- active foum Cons: \-... I took this course 5 years ago when it was first offered. Since then I have taken many math, science and engineering MOOCs at the undergraduate and the graduate levels from many top-notch universities, but no course has been as good as MITx 6.002, Circuits and Electronics 1. MOOCs have exposed me to some truly excellent science teachers, and I believe Professor Agarwal's teaching method is the best of all of them. The homework problems and exams in 6.002x could be challenging, which presented significant opportunities for learning. The circuit laboratory exercises not only taught electronics, they inspired me to experiment, to create my own circuits and to ask what would happen if ...? Very few other courses have inspired me to actually build something like 6.002x did. I believe the circuit lab in this course taught me to participate in science and engineering, rather than to just memorize facts and formulas. My deepest thanks... I took this course 5 years ago when it was first offered. This was the first online course I ever took. I took this course back in 2012, when the course was first released as a part of MITX. I got 99%. Before MITX the video lectures of this course were available on YouTube. And I like the way Professor Anant Agarwal, had taught this course. At that time I had just started my Undergraduate degree studying electronics and I wanted to know about Opamps. So I ended up taking this course and I learned the basics of Analog Electronics. Because of this course I grew my interest in Analog electronics and the concepts that I learned in this course form the basic underlying principles of analyzing analog circuits. Now I am working for a semiconductor industry in Silicon Valley and even today when someone asks me for good basic tutorial on analog electronics, I refer them to Circuits and Electronics course, 6.002x. The concepts that I learned from this course forms the basis of analyzing complex integ... This was the first online course I ever took. This course served as a motivation for me to pursue my interest in analog electronics and helped me in eventually ending up in a career in analog electronics.

This is a brilliant course taught by a fantastic staff, including the community TAs, with whom the course gets much more interactive. 6.002x is what you need as an introductory electrical engineering class. What I learned in college wasn't as useful and complete as this class. It wasn't my initial idea to take the other parts, but my interest grew so much that I have to do it. I am currently taking 6.002.2 and planning on taking the third one. I also opted for a verified certificate, not for the certificate itself, but to somehow repay the brilliant job done by this team.

It's THE best introductory electronics course out there.I like all aspects of this course. I studied a 14 week long Circuits and Electronics course in Harbin Institute of Technology, which is a top 10 science and technology type university in China.But the course was pretty boring and I didn't learn well. I spent around 40 hours to complete this course. Please read the textbook.It's a well-written textbook.

The material has been presented wonderfully! It has been ensured that no basic concept is unclear in the mind of the learner. You will definitely enjoy this course, as it is the best introduction to electronics. It is highly recommended that you take the 2nd and 3rd parts of this course as well. Some knowledge of High School Mathematics will help in completing the course in lesser duration.

It's very good course for me to learn electronic. Even I am more than 60 years old and no one learn this course in my country i.e. Myanmar. Only me try my self, but disscursion forum help me a lot. So I pass this course at first badge. Thanks to proffessor and his coledge Tommy

Best place to start learning electrical engineering, from high school physics to electrical/electronics engineering, this is the perfect bridge and beyond. I recommend the Part 2 and Part 3 of the course too.

Absolutely amazing course for both complete beginners and those who knew it but need to remember again. All the EE magic simply explained. Together with quite challenging assignments, it will help you embrace the basics of electric and electronic circuits. I can't but recommend!

Must-attend course for electrical& electronics enthusiasts.Prof. Agarwal breaks the complex concepts down to the atom of it and clears all the clutter.He makes u yearn to be a student in his class!Clear explanations,engaging quizzes and assignments which understand your pace. Only drawback that working professionals might face is time management. I wish they offered two sessions per year.Looking forward to attend more courses from the same team.
