Climate Change has been a central issue in my life for 15 years and I have pursued it as a hobby by readings mainly from the IPCC and scepticalscience.com but without developing a confidence to enter debate widely where climate denial was being pushed by high profile people with connections to industry. I had doubts about the level of understanding I had reached and in my capacity to advance that through open on-line learning. Though a 79-year old retired civil engineer I still had interests competing with time for the course and probably was not a perfect student but participation has given me satisfaction and joy. The course was beautifully presented in logical steps - I now intend to make a calm science-based contribution to a new low-carbon society whenever possible. I will happily recommend the course to others.

The course "Climate Change: The Science" taught by Dr. Sara E. Harris as the principal instructor is a memorable experience since one can clearly understand significance of the subject and elements of climate change. Further, it addresses possible measures to reduce climate change and moreover it possesses substance to initiate interest for further studies in the subject.

Superb course, it effectively teaches how delicate and complex the climate system is, how we, humans are ruining it and the little chances that exist for actually repairing and living, as humans, in a sustainable way, no doubt why Spacex wants to colonize mars.

This course explains difficult(for a non science person)concepts extremely clearly and easily and Dr Sara Harris is an excellent teacher. I can recommend this course to those who want to understand why it is getting hotter just about everywhere. I did not do the assignments but that did not spoil my enjoyment of learning. Thanks for letting me join such an inspiring class.

Climate Science is indeed a science and some people considering this course may worry that their school science or maths may not be up to it. All I can say is that under the benevolent guidance of Dr Harris who walks you very carefully through any topic which might challenge your numeracy, statistical or general scientific skills I felt I had made real progress in understanding the "science" of climate change both for my own benefit and in helping to get the message over to climate change sceptics/deniers. So if you can add, subtract, multiply and divide and have a rough idea about how graphs work then you should be fine. I stopped maths at the age of 16 (O level grade in England) and although I have a geography degree I took it as an arts subject. Yet I still managed to get a 93% pass mark on this course - not because the topic is simple but because it is superbly presented by a most clear and personable teacher. Thank you Sara.

I just completed this course and it has way exceeded my expectation! Within the span of 6 weeks, it has transformed me from someone who could only understand news regarding climate change at a very superficial level to one who is now much more well-informed and able to view and assess related reports and information more critically and confidently. The course was very comprehensive and well-structured with many useful videos, readings and supporting materials to help guide me learn the Science of Climate Change in a systematic, progressive, engaging and non-threatening manner. I also find the module quizzes and final examination appropriately challenging and helpful in consolidating what I have learned through the video lectures and readings as well as in letting me know how much I have really understood and mastered the various topics. In the case of the peer-reviewed assignments (2 short essays), the research and the writing process can be quite time consuming if one wants to do well (and especially for a non-native writer like me who also needs to balance other commitments in work and family). However, I am thankful that I have persisted on and put in the extra efforts in completing the assignments as I find them very rewarding in the end in applying what I have learned from the modules to real life issues and cases in my region. This has in turn helped deepen my knowledge and understanding of the climate change issues in my region that I researched on as well as let me know issues of other regions via reading the assignments of fellow course mates. On the whole, I have thoroughly enjoyed this course. From the informative and engaging lectures to little things like attaching notes of updates and errata to videos filmed a few years back, I can see and sense the diligence and professionalism of Dr Harris and the entire course team. Thank you very much for making this course so successful! It is one of the best and most enriching MOOCs I have taken and I highly recommend it!

This relies HEAVILY (30%) on random student grading which is ridiculously unfair and demotivating. It could be a good course if better structured and fairly graded.

Great class. As a wildlife biologist I have dealt with how climate change affects wildlife populations (especially birds) but I wanted to gain a broader understanding of how climate change works and how it affects the planet as a whole. This class addressed that perfectly.

This course is absolutely the best introductory MOOC course on the science of climate change. The videos by Dr Harris present information in a way that anyone can understand. I have taken this course twice now and I recommend it for anyone who wants to really understand and be able to intelligently discuss the issue of climate change.

I was quite apprehensive about taking my first course on Climate Change. Sara in her inimitable style of explaining difficult topics with elan and panache ensured I have now become confident to try out a 12 week advance course of MIT. I wont ever forget you Sara - my Guru. Please do let me know if you are ever visiting India

Dr Harris distilled the science of natural and anthropic climate change into a logical, well organized, factual, and rewarding 6 week layman's journey through its complexities. Don't assume this is a trivial course though. The data are presented and the concepts are clearly explained so with some effort you can gain a sound, if basic, understanding of the real science behind climate change. Warning, completing this course with due diligence will estrange you from the climate change denialist echo chamber. But if you value truth and understanding, this is a great place to start.

Brilliant! Without hype, urgency or alarmism (and without complexity) Sara and the other members of the course team take you steadily through the science and the issues. You end up 6 weeks later knowing a great deal more about climate change, the human causes of warming and, crucially, what we have to do about it. I couldn't have asked for a better, more appropriate course. Thank you!

This is a must take course for everyone on the planet. It takes climate change from being something you hear about on the news and makes it very real. I had absolutely no previous climate science education and this course taught me so much. It gave me an understanding of a very complex topic. It really opened my eyes and now I see how everything literally is interconnected. Climate change is not just something for scientists to figure out. We ALL need to take an active role and this course is an excellent way to get educated on how it all works. From how the Earth systems naturally work to what's happened and why things are off balance. The instructor Sara E. Harris took complex scientific concepts and made them accessible for concerned citizens like me to understand. I am very grateful for tis course and highly recommend it!

I appreciated much of the content of this course. I wish I could say as much for the way it was administered. I am in the middle of renovating my house and had to stay up very late to get Assignment #2 done in time and did. Because of the two tiered submission system you have, I apparently submitted it to the wrong place. After establishing that you had, in fact, received it--after trying to complete the peer reviews and finding out that Assignment #2 was incomplete--I was then told that I would have to take an incomplete even though the assignment had been submitted in time. I will not be bothering with the rest of the course or any other offerings from your university. Your handling of this has been shameful and I want nothing further to do with your organization.
