And took 5 courses through the ASU program and did exceptionally well, which I found out down the road, I can apply for College Credit through Arizona State University which was amazing opportunity for an old timer like myself to apply for college credit while working for my second bachelors degree at Nazarene Bible College (CO) and my second Associate at Fredrick Community College (MD) both colleges allowing me to apply the 5 classes/16 units towards my general electives. A pretty awesome course. I was able to brush up all the concepts that I had learned in school. It took me around 45 days to completed but it can be completed within a month if you don't get lazy like me. The examples are self explanatory and 'Aleks' the software that's being used is quite user friendly.

It is a very useful and entertaining course. Especially for those who want to upgrade their old knowledge and learn some new ones. It is especially useful to show that there are a lot of things we think we know, but when we face a problem, we get stuck. Math is like music: it fades without regular exercise (usage). There were some technical difficulties especially at graphical tasks. It was a great experience.

I think the class is well constructed, it has been very easy to understand. My problem is, I am not to good at Algebra, this is a whole new learning experience for me. I have not been in contact with the instructor much, due to I want to figure out things on my own, but if I get in a real jam, I will be contacting the instructor. The instructor is doing "Just Fine", I like the idea, that the instructor is there when I need them. Should I contact the instructor more than I am? I really like the way we are doing things now. As for the provider, they have done a Great Job! I cannot think of anything else to say about the provider. Thank You!!

If you struggle in mathematics, haven't taken a course in years, have had poor prior experiences in attempting to learn the subject, and/or have all but given up learning but wish you could, this might just be the course for you. I've always struggled in traditional classrooms regardless of my level of effort and assumed that I was simply "bad at maths" for not being able to keep up, found everything to be frustrating, and given up on learning anything beyond rudimentary algebra. Much to my surprise, I have actually been learning much more than I ever thought possible for me thanks to the course being online, low-pressure, self-paced, (though at times my pace was even faster than a traditional course as I wasn't forced to waste time on topics I understood, giving me more time to dedicate to more difficult topics) the use of the ALEKS system, and ASU's excellent teachers and methods. While I would have forgotten much of what I had "learned" in a traditional course by now, I've been amazed at how much I've retained since I began the course thanks to the frequent knowledge checks and review sections. The system walks students though difficult sections with clear instructions, and it's easy to keep track of your progress and shore up topics that you've fallen behind on. It also frequently encourages the student to think critically, teaching critical thinking skills and how to think mathematically rather than simply focusing solely on memorisation. Lastly, this course has shown me that not only does mathematics not have to be frustrating, but in fact can be a great deal of fun. In short, this course is a goldmine, especially for non-traditional learners, busy people, and anyone who thinks they're "bad at math".

I thought the Course Content, Instructor and Provider were absolutely great! Everyone with an interest in studying Mathematics should do this course as; if i were to provide an analogy, it would be: You go into the best restaurant with a $10.00 bill and get a plate of food. With this course, you go into the best restaurant with the same $10.00 bill and 'eat as much as you like'. You can't go wrong!

I regret that there are not more self paced courses such as this one available in other subjects, because they are so enjoyable. Especially if you have an intense, unpredictable work life that inhibits you from traditional teaching methods. In addition I thought I would just be able to breeze through this course; However, it offered additional challenges not typically seen in other Algebra courses. As a side note, adding the training in calculator methodology in regard to Algebra was a nice added touch.

I am planning to return to college to take courses in Engineering but it has been many years since I've worked on college math like this. This course has not only been fundamental in helping me review these topics, but also key in helping build my confidence back up with regard to college level mathematics. I'm looking forward to putting all this review to good use.

It has been a fantastic course with a great support and resources to learn in a high pedagogical level. For me it was a great course in which I was able to take my knowledge back to a good level in the contents of algebra. Also the guidance and support on the part of the coaches very good. Finally many thanks to everyone at Arizona State University for this outstanding contribution to the world, thank you very much from me

I really love the idea of setting your own goal, it is self-paced but with an instrument to make more discipline. Content is great! You can track your progress easily, there is many materials if you want to go deeper, or didn't get the topic from normal description.

Excellent course that makes brilliant use of online platform. Finally, a Math MOOC that does not try to imitate the brick and mortar experience but instead uses MOOC potentialities to their best advantage. The course incorporates features I have been dreaming of since the advent of MOOC's in (roughly) 2013, e.g., a truly self-paced timeline (though I have not been able to figure out how to revise my weekly mastery objectives); to-the-point examples, so that students do not have to slog unnecessarily through video lectures/transcripts; a simple easy-to-use graphing tool. Thank you professors, graduate students, engineers, software developers, and University of Arizona. Thank you. This is the first MOOC that I can and will recommend to my own students without reservation.

Absolutely Great! Love the Aleks program - never knew math could be so much fun. If you have difficulty with a topic the program provides a written walk through of the problem. If you are still having problems just click on a video. Still having a problem? then simply contact your coach. I am currently enrolled in this course and I am enjoying it ever so much. Hope ASU will offer an Algebra 2 with the same ALEKS format. Many kudos to ASU

I was terrible at maths even at school and that was 35 years ago. This course has really helped me understand methods in a systematic way, with clear instruction, worked examples and loads of opportunities to practise. The thing I find most helpful is that if I get stuck, I can immediately look at where I went wrong. You don't just get the answer, you get a step by step breakdown of what you should have done. I have found this an invaluable tool to help me really grasp the concepts.

This course is providing in a clear and systematic way the art of algebra. I would wish that more people would have so much fun in finding solutions. The content is clear, most subjects are explained in a descent manner and there is enough to practice with. I would recommend everybody who is interested in Algebra and being afraid to cross the mathematic fear border.

Excellent course! I really like all the metrics shown: learning progress, topics, time spent with so much detail and options. Information about student learning is well presented - and that is encouraging and makes learning more fun. I love also the pages with encouraging phrases and nice designs shown when you master a topic. Those help me to stay motivated and to be happy about progressing in the course :-)

This course uses a very interesting approach using ALEKS training system that divides learning in small chunks/topics. I find that this works great - you can study whenever you have some time without setting a lot of time aside. There is no required textbook but videos in the course and materials on the web seem to be enough. At times I find that example exercises are a little too easy to really master the topics well. In addition, during initial evaluation at course start, you are encouraged to try to answer as many questions as possible. It's unfortunate that if you manage to answer a question correctly without fully understanding the topic, then the topic seems to count as learned and you are not given a chance to properly learn it later. However, I am only half way through the course and have yet to see the rest of the course. Overall, it is quite good so far!

The course content and absolutely EVERYTHING is amazing! I graduated high school hanging on by a thread because of algebra despite excelling in all other classes! I love the "why" bubble if you want to gain a better understanding of a problem and the option to explain the answers in different ways! I like the constant reviews that are prompted and the option to review the topics that needed to be revisited! I need that! I never thought I would know how it is to understand algebra and now I do!

It's been thirteen years since I've had to deal with any math problem more complicated than basic arithmetic. I'm planning on returning to full-time education next year, to study science. An instructor on a course I was looking at told me that the hardest part for almost every returning student is the math, so I opted for this course. I cover 2/3 topics every weekday evening, then at the weekends I rewrite my notes (during which I do three more sample questions on each topic) and make flashcards (three more questions). The only question is will I be able to keep up this pace and get through the final exam? Wish me luck!
