This was great course, i work as an IT-technician and had before this course a good overviewing knowledge of networking and cybersecurity. But this course filled in some gaps. I think this course sets a great foundational knowledge in the cybersecurity field. In my opinion both beginners and professionals can benefit from this course. I strongly recommend it!

This has been a great course. It is a great introductory course for what follows in the Cybersecurity Micromasters degree, both for people who don't know the concepts or people who need a refresher. I learned several concepts I was not fully aware of. You make everything very simple to understand, and the additional notes/links for reading are very good and interesting. Thanks!

As a Professor of Computer Engineering at City Univ. of New York, my areas of focus aren't cybersecurity, but hardware, small board computers, microcontrollers, C/C++, and Linux. So, I was eager to explore a technical arena that I've not personally studied or taught. RIT/Edx's Cybersecurity Fundamentals was a very enjoyable course with excellent, clear, and enthusiastic instruction from a professor with strong expertise in the subject. It feels like an excellent jumping off point for now diving deeper into the subject.

Hello All, please I have been taking several online course but I can boldly say that the concept deployed on the administration of Cybersecurity Fundamental is superb! Great work to the team. I have started inviting more people to join the program. Others need to benefit from it too. I don't want to eat alone, so that I wont .... alone. Great job!

I must deeply thank you Prof Weissmann for the high quality of your lessons and your extraordinary communicative skills: I have learnerd a lot, considering that I started as a total beginner, and I'm deeply interested in pursuing the next steps of the Cybersecurity MicroMaster. I hope to keep in touch with you in the future via Linkedin: a phrase in one of your e-mails to Edx students"Once you're my student, you're always my student" deeply touched me. Thanks again and hope to follow soon another of your courses. Best regards

Wao! I'm different from who I used to be after this course. Thanks to every one especially my instructor, Jonathan S. Weissman, who taught me Cyber Security Fundamentals. Jonathan brought meaning to the lecture and I learnt a lot. To be honest, that was my best class yet. What a memory!

Possibly the best online class that I have experienced. The content and activities are well thought out and challenging. It is a class that will take considerable time and effort, but what I learned and took away from this class was impressive. Professor Weissman has a unique presentation style that is effective. I would recommend this class.

This was a fantastic overview of the entire field of networking, and lays a foundation for understanding the field of cybersecurity. I enjoyed the course, and am taking the subsequent courses in the program. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to work in the IT field, not just in cybersecurity. I work in this industry already, and I still managed to find topics that I wasn't totally familiar with.

I commend Professor John S. Weissman for his knowledge and expertise in teaching the Fundamentals of Cyber Security. The progression of videos, discussions, selected articles, and live Q&A made studying a difficult subject FUN! I would have enjoyed the class much more if I wasn't in such a time crunch with my professional and personal life happening around me. I have recommended RITx and particularly Professor Weissman to my friends and colleagues in the hopes that they too will enjoy the class as much as I did. I certainly will consider attending the RITx MicroMasters program when I decide on a new career path in the near future. "Ed A

I have really enjoyed taking this course. It has filled a lot of gaps I had in my cybersecurity and network security knowledge and will help me improve in my current work assignment. Professor Weissman is an excellent teacher and the whole team who assisted in creating this course made it a success for me. Thanks to all involved for allowing me (and all enrolled students) this opportunity to learn more about the basics of cybersecurity.

The course content if fascinating and informative. The instructor is knowledgeable, distinguished, passionate and helpful. The UX with EdX is great, very simple. One suggestion would be to implement interactive activities on the user interface. The current activities all involve external websites or applications.

Professor Weissman has a great didactic and used several practical and real life examples throughout the whole course, which made each class interesting. I watched every single video class, even when it was my area of expertise, due to his point of view, always bringing something new. One of the fears I had was the "hands on" when it's an online class, but Professor Weissman provided links to several tools and I found myself testing, trying and learning about each of them. I'm looking forward to the next class! Definitely recommend.

The material is spot on and provides a great start to cyber security for anyone from any background. The videos are concise yet they provide a depth of knowledge rarely seen today, the professor truly cares and has a passion for what he teaches. The additional materials provide ways to dive deeper into the material and are all extremely helpful. This class restored some faith in the teaching world for me and this class is a must take if you are interested in cyber security or just have a craving for networking.

Instructor (Weissman) was very clear and concise in deliverig the material. Worried I was going to be in over my head but their was plenty of material for all levels to learn the fundamentals. Of all online classes I have taken this was the most clear in delivering the information and helping to understand the concepts.

This was a fantastic course. As an IT professional, I really needed to fill in a great deal of gaps since Computer Science majors didn't exist when I went to college. Jonathon Weissman is a great instructor- knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what he presents and the additional reading and projects were geared towards truly learning the subject matter. A must for IT professionals who want to advance or simply "fill in the gaps" like myself.

First off, an enormous round of applause to the instructor Mr. Weissman and everyone else that worked on this amazing course. I personally filled several weeks of research to find the perfect curriculum on this subject, so I consider that, especially after completing this course, I am appropriately qualified to say this is by far the best course you can find, content alone, the fact that it's free only increases its impressiveness! Thank you so much Professor Jonathan for your extremely well explained videos and material. This course was inspiring since it paved the path for me to continue on with the rest of the course. I was really happy to know that RIT made their Maters in Cybersecurity in online format. I had checked out the RIT site previously and didn't find the online pages and got a little disappointed for not having the opportunity and those who live in the states, but then I got extremely happy to find that the course got available online this year. I also thank EDX for relaying and providing the platform for RIT.

I truly enjoyed the class and as a fellow trainer , although retire for quite some time, but the examples given using common elements of daily life to explain the concepts: For example, using an apartment with different mailboxes to teach a section about TCP/IP regarding servers, ports I would hadn't never thought about that visual to explain to a student. Or using the example of an airport line where the TSA Officer is the firewall but the security guards represents an IPS or IDS I'll never forget about that example in my life. Also I really appreciated that the professor Weissman took his time to speak and module his voice so the pronunciation was top notch, at least for those us that English is not our primary language which is very helpful in any business discussion or technical interview.
