This was an amazing course. The journey, though difficult, provided much in the way of interesting information, particularly since I had no formal experience with Cybersecurity. The only knowledge I had was a bit of training in Networking (IPv4). I look forward to the next courses in this sequence, and will definitely take the next course offered by Professor Weissman (Networking Security).

Actually this course motivated me to build a career in cyber security field. From the course materials when I came to know about the incidents of Ashley Madison, Power hack in Ukraine, Reserve hack from Bangladesh Bank, then i felt an unstopping urge to gain some hands on the cyber security. Never felt boring during the whole course time and seemed that i was going upward by an elevator , Very pleasant indeed! Thank a lot for Prof. Jonathon S. Weissman, RIT and Edx for providing me such an excellent opportunity. Hope to see you further.

I love moocs and this is my favourite to date. The lecturer is my favourite too. The course is designed and delivered very well. I was surprised at the quality compared to cyber security courses on other platforms. In fact, I am sure I will refer back to this course material later. The lectures and the step by step exercises made it all click for me. The additional reading was well worth the time and the discussion facilitated deeper learning again. It is free to look so you have nothing to loose.

Prof. Jonathan S. Weissman, thank you very much. This is probably one of the BEST Intro courses in Cybersecurity out there. You touched on all basics and you did great by taking time to explain each content. Your animations were simply AMAZING. I've understood things which I found difficult to grasp earlier. Very HELPFUL links for further reading. Thanks to you and the whole team at RIT. Looking forward to the next one and hope I will enjoy it like this one. THANK YOU

I have been in IT for some time now, however, lack any formal education or practice in the security realm. I am so intrigued by this field and see such a vast need for strong security professionals in the future. Professor Weissman was awesome. I felt very engaged and learned a lot. I found myself re-watching most videos just because of the ease of delivery and the ability to peak my interest. Highly recommended!

This course was fantastic for me, especially as one who came from a non technical academic background. For me as a political scientist, knowing more about CyberSecurity will go a long way to preparing me to be able to analyse things in the field of international terrorism, cyberwarfare, and to sensitice me on world of Security in the 21st century. Prof. Weissman did a very good job. Thanks to the entire team, who made this possible. I would love to continue this course, cause I am enriching myself when it comes to CyberSecurity, wheather privately or publicly. I now know things I did not know before. "Knowledge is Power"

This was excellent course! It provided a good foundational knowledge base upon which to build a career in cybersecurity. In fact, whether or not you are interested in pursuing more knowledge in cybersecurity, I think this course should should be mandatory for anyone who uses a computer, tablet or cell phone. Its that fundamental. In addition, Jonathan presents informative and engaging analogies in lecture that really make the concepts intuitive and includes additional references and activities that are both fun and relevant. I enjoyed this class so much that I am actually seriously considering entering grad school at RIT to pursue a career in cybersecurity. I highly recommend this course!

I was glad to get knowledge from this course and especially from Jonathan S. Weissman. I am from Ukraine and I was thinking my English isn’t good enough to understand video lectures, but I was so wrong as I found all was so easy to understand that even my 5y.o. son could understand it if he knows English a bit. Also I found that this course doesn’t contain any not necessary information – just all we were need to understand the course and achieve everything Jonathan S. Weissman wanted us to get to really understand Cybersecurity Fundamentals. This differs very much from the format of learning here in Ukrainian Universities… It is not possible to describe how awesome it is to learn something from the best teacher from the other side of the planet when you are in not very developed country, Ukraine is developed, but not as much as other European Countries unfortunately. Excellent course. Wise use of the Edx platform to teach online. Very clear explanations and animations. I happened to know that I was attending the first run of the course while I thought it was prepared and tested long ago. Now about the most important: Jonathan S. Weissman is one of the greatest lecturers. He makes the topic so interesting and engaging that it is impossible to be bored and loose attention for a second! Using metaphors and analogies, this rather complex topic becomes understandable. I am eager to meet him again in the Network module. Needless to say, I enthusiastically recommend the MOOC.

This class was excellent. It covered the basics of everything you would ever need to know in the world of Cyber security. The content of this course is incredibly thorough for a introductory course, and is well worth the time and (if you choose) money you put into this course. The knowledge I have learned here has motivated me to pursue a degree in Information Security locally. Professor Weissman was an excellent teacher, with clear and concise concepts that are easy to understand. He encourages interaction with weekly discussion groups and live webinars. I count myself lucky to have started my infosec journey with this course.

This course really helped me get the fundamentals in a field that is very interesting to me. I am following all the micromaster program. At first, despite the fact that i was excited, i didn't know what to expect starting this course. But the moment i saw the professor teaching in the first video that was it. I was super excited ! The teacher is amazing and really makes you want to learn more and more. I have to admit it, during 7 years of academic experience as a student, this is one of the best instructor I had. Thank you !

Professor Weismann is an excellent teacher. In my college experience, Professors are certainly knowledgeable in their specific subject matter and most of them are just good teachers. I'm not putting them down; you still learn from them. But then there are the few professors that you have that really stand out from the rest. Not only are they knowledgeable in their subject matter, but they are excellent teachers as well. Professor Weissman is definitely one of those that stand out above the rest. He's really engaging and communicates the material very well.

As a sysadmin almost all my adult life (professionally, since I was 20!), I really, really enjoyed brushing up on my networking and security skills with the course content. This course fits in with the security element of my new job (I'm six months with a company involved in Financial Services) and as I was giving "Information Security Awareness" presentations on behalf of the IT Manager during the same period, I was able to bring in much of the lecture content to "massage" the slide, allowing more dynamics during the presentation. Prof. Weissman has a uniquely engaging attitude to his videos, that intrigues you and makes you want to see what's coming next. It doesn't come across that he is talking "at" you at all; humour and real-world examples put the content into perspective. In no way will you get bored of this! :) The animations were also a terrific way to visualise the more technical concepts (and brush up those that..... In no way will you get bored of this! :) The animations were also a terrific way to visualise the more technical concepts (and brush up those that... ahem... should know...) A huge bonus was the discussion platform and the RIT support team - engaging with others demonstrated the vast range of skill sets and knowledge bring brought in - the team that constructed this course can only use this to make the course delivery even better (although it's so good, it's hard to improve on perfection, right? :) ) Two things did irk me a little, (but not enough to take off any stars): First, simply - the transcripts/closed captions could do with a little work - alternative words substituted may slightly adversely affect those whose native language isn't English, and possibly confuse a little. Second: some of the questions in the quizzes seem to be a play on words, rather than attempting to gauge a full understanding of the topics. I observed this a few times - once or twice would have been enough. Again, these are just minor - could be just me! ;) But in all honestly, how many networking classes have you ever been to where there are comparisons drawn up to "Die Hard"? :D Thank you, Prof. Weissman, RIT and edX. A fantastic course, excellent support and a terrific platform.

The course content was relevant, up to date and very interesting, I would suggest an improvement by introducing digital weaponry for example stuxnet? The instructor Jonahan S. Weissman is engaging and has an excellent style of teaching which is quite unique. His sense of humour helps with his delivery. In addition to these qualities, he really goes out of his way to interact with all his students which is phenomenal since there must be thousands registered! The provider did an excellent job in providing a strong and stable delivery platform with 100% up time (as far as I'm aware) during the 8 week course. Simple login and navigation around the course and apparently bug free software :)

This course really helped to get an good insight in network fundamentals and cybersecurity basics. The structure of the course is easy to follow. The additional material is up-to-date and i would highly recommend to use this extra material. The workload is acceptable, however the course starts a bit too slow in my opion. However, starting with the networking fundamentals the course really takes off.
