First of all A big Thanks for such a great Course. I remember first time I have conversation with my instructor on Linkedin. I was very hopeful that I'm going to learn something great from you. And yes I can say it was a fabulous journey learning with Jonathan. Our relationship is virtual but he is not less than any classroom teacher for me. He and his team effort is making big impact on people like us because sometimes we are not able to take good guidelines from our surroundings. But this type of platform(EDX) and these type of courses is like blessings for us.

It was well structured and it was presented with a great deal of passion and wonderful explanations with a lot of examples to get one's understanding. The Extra course links was an added bonus that one can reference while studying the material. The way in which the course was presented from unit one to the last unit makes it easy for one to follow and understand the fundamentals which is the building blocks of the cyber security. I personally think the understanding of the fundamentals was key to just getting the right answers in the quizzes. I have taken some courses in the past but none come near to what was delivered. The discussion part was other interesting bit of the course as you could share or reply to contributions made by other student which I find very useful in terms what others are talking about on a specific unit

Clear explanations with the help of very good visual effects, along with extra-course links to real-life examples, even further explanations, and practical activities in cmd prompt and such really all come together to create this outstanding course. 10/10

I attended the Cyber security fundamentals course on edx. Everything was explained everything so well, but what really stood out for me was the energy and effort i could see in the Videos from Prof Weissman. With online courses, one of the issues is boredom, he did not let that happen.

The CYBER501x -Cybersecurity Fundamentals course was a good introduction to this evolving profession. Professor Weissman was able to engage with the students and successfully demonstrated the importance of a strong fundamental knowledge. The material was relevant, timely and delivered in a professional manner. Prof. Weissman and the RIT team went above and beyond to deliver a fantastic course. I strongly recommend this course to the beginner as a good base or the veteran as a good refresh.

Great work you put together Jonathan and your behind-the-scenes crew on this course at edX.org. It was lots to learn and in a great way also lots of help on putting words on lessoned learned earlier. See you at the next courses, and please take look, into [tomsteen.com] for a tribute to this course, put together material from the lessons learned and additional material for friends, companies etc. to take part of. It has been very informational and hopefully, it will be and have been for others too.

The CYBER501x -Cybersecurity Fundamentals course was a great introduction to the field of cybersecurity. The course mixed a good amount of fundamental cybersecurity concepts with a (very necessary) amount of networking and systems administration concepts. Having had the experience of a bachelor's degree in IT along with nearly 20 years of experience in various networking and systems administration roles, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was much more to dig into and learn than "the basics" if one was so inclined. I also found that Professor Weissman's "real life" examples were very easy to understand. He was able to describe concepts in a way that made sense even for someone without any experience in the cybersecurity or IT fields. Overall I would recommend this course to anyone interested in protecting themselves a bit more or to help start a career in cybersecurity. I'd also recommend taking the extra time to rea... This class was definitely worth your while and the instructor is clearly knowledgeable about the subject. His current examples and descriptions of the technology in plain english make this relevant to students on many levels. I am currently studying for my CISSP and this course has definitely reinforced concepts and technology I will need to pass that exam. This is my first class at edx.org and if they are all like this, I will be a student for life. Thank you so much for offering it and continue to do so. This is relevant to IT professionals as well as the curious student.

I'd recommend this course to anyone with an interest in IT, it's very interesting and entertaining too. In particular, don't be put off that it is graded as Advanced and is part of the MicroMasters program. I studied no math after age 16 at school and I'm 65, and I had no problems with the course. Everything is very well explained step-by-step and there are loads of links to additional material. I hope eventually to be able to work in some way in this field despite my age, but I think what the course teaches you is very useful to everyone today, in fact, a lot of what is taught everybody should know for their own personal and financial security. One piece of advice, the first two weeks of studies don't require a lot of time, but before you think you can sign up to study something else at the same time, be warned that weeks 3, 4, 5 and 6 are much more time consuming. For me weeks 1 and 2 were only about 5 hours of study a week including the additional material, but weeks 3, 4, 5 and 6 took me 20 hours a week studying all the additional material thoroughly. Just one other good point I must mention. I'm British and a native English speaker, but I live in Spain and am now a fluent Spanish speaker, so I understand the problems people can have with a foreign language. Well Prof. Jonathan Weissman would be fabulous for students for whom English is a second language, he speaks really clearly and not too fast. To anybody with quite poor English this course would make excellent listening practice, the cybersecurity aside!

IT is in every walk of life today. While enjoying the fruits of this technology one must think of those who are working to ensure that this technology is safe and used wisely. Prof. Jonathan S Weissman and his team have put in an excellent course in this direction. The course is recommended for all those who care to understand the technology behind the internet and the efforts of those who are striving to prevent all malicious use of it. The course progresses gradually and ensures that you grip the content by way of inquisitive quizzes and supplementary activities. The professor gives simple analogies to explain the complex concepts. You just have to watch his videos with focus to get the most out of this course. I wish to congratulate the Professor and his team for this wonderful effort.

Cybersecurity Fundamentals (CYBER501x) taught by Professor Weissman is a very well organized and professionally executed course. I stumbled onto the course when I was searching for training venues to increase my knowledge and understanding in cybersecurity. As an automotive engineer working in functional safety, I am seeing more and more overlap between safety and cybersecurity issues in cars (which comes as no surprise with over 100 million lines of code and a variety of wired and wireless connections networking multiple controllers that perform critical driving functions). With some knowledge and previous experience in embedded systems, I decided to give the course a try. After trying it out for three weeks on the audit track, I decided to upgrade my status to a “verified learner.” It was well worth it.
