This course has all the great elements of a "Fundamentals" course - It draws you in and gets you hooked :) Professor Weissman is engaging and has a great sense of humor. I definitely recommend this course for those who wish to find out if this challenging and essential part of Information Technology is for them.

Engaging, excellent explanations with animations, thorough! These are fundamentals required to pursue a career in Information/Cyber Security. The material was close to what I have taken many years ago at university which made this course stand out for me! Well done RIT, Professor Weissman and the team! And thank you for your generous time!

Professor Weissman makes this course, Cybersecurity Fundamentals, engaging and enjoyable. He communicates the sometimes challenging topics clearly and in a manner that is easily understandable, even for those with no technical background. I would recommend this course for those who have an interest in Cybersecurity, but don't necessarily have a background in Computer Science, or Information Technology. This course gives an excellent grounding in Cybersecurity topics, and although challenging, if you follow the lectures, and the course readings and activities you will do well.

Excellent introduction to cybersecurity. Professor Weissman is engaging and clear in his presentations and materials. Kudos to him and his team for a compelling course. I particularly liked the way technical issues of cybersecurity were related to real-life events. The edX forum provides a great way to set your own pace, review materials, and verify your learnings. Great course! P.S. Loved the sweaters :)

Loved the course! The content was concise and pertinent. I would very much recommend Cybersecurity Fundementals. However the best part was the teacher. Professor Weissman made this course most enjoyable with his enthusiasm, and his incredible knowledge. He is a true professional. I have signed up for the next course, and I can't wait for it to start.

The lenght of the videos were just right and the enthusiasm shown by Mr. Weissman were top notch, so I would say it was a very good course! What made it even better, was the effort to put extra content, such as links with very good information to complement the video lectures. Overall, a 5.1 out of 5.

Much of my study of cybersecurity had been self-directed before I started the class. This course rapidly and effectively brought all of the disparate pieces together and has vastly improved my confidence and familiarity with the terms and processes involved in the subject. The instructor made the information accessible, concise, and clear, and I look forward to continuing with similar courses. Additionally, it was clear that he takes an effort to keep materials up to date to ensure that his students have the best and most current information.

I had only a passing familiarity with cyber-security when I started this course. I felt unsure if I could keep up with the material. The material was presented in a concise manner with real world examples. The hands-on activities helped to bring clarity to the subjects and brought deeper understanding to the lessons. For those with the discipline for on-line programs, I would highly recommend this course.

Jonathan had an exceptional ability to take a complex subject such as this and explain it crisply, lucidly and practically to a tech novice like me. Above all he was fun. Every time when I completed a module, I looked forward to the next module, because he made the course so funny and entertaining like watching Nickelodeon TV, and guess what? When my 7-year-old son saw him, he agreed with this observation. The content was just perfect for my needs- as internet policy researcher and lawyer. It equipped me with the right concepts and knowledge to a point that I started applying some of the takeaways in my work, for example, explaining in a conference on the implications of DPI, PSI, TCP RST, etc. am proud I will have a certificate with RITx on it- it means loads- that is like a certificate of authority as it engenders trust and confidence in others in my work and qualifications.

Cybersecurity is a rather daunting field - especially for a mechanical engineer like me with little to none computer science experience. I was unsure how I would be able to take on such a vast subject and how would I even begin. This is where this course and Prof Weissman made all the difference. The course is the perfect backgrounder on cybersecurity and I can say first-hand that even if you are just starting out with no experience in this field - you have to take this course to get your bearings right. The content covers almost all possible specialities in this field and the additional readings and activities give you a well-rounded overview of the topic being discussed. The highlight, though, of the course is less the content and more the instructor - Prof Weissman. Truth be told - I had enrolled to another Cybersecurity course on edX at the same time but the instructor was not able to connect to me in way that I found... This course is a part of a micromasters program on edX and now I am determined to take all the four remaining courses - in one of which I will have the opportunity to be tutored by Prof Weissman again. I hope I have been able to encourage you to take your first steps into this industry!

I had knowledge of each of the subjects covered in this fundamental course, but I now have a deeper understanding. The videos were succinct, professionally produced, and easy to understand. There was a wealth of relevant reading and optional activities that really help to broaden the student's understanding of the subject. I also enjoyed the global nature of the course, I like that the discussion forums are filled with a global perspective. I will be taking more edX courses from RIT based on the strength of this course.

Excellent course, eloquent and engaging instructor, most informative content. Just wish I could remember all those TLAs. Surreal to be completing the last section on ransomware this afternoon and to hear immediately afterwards of the cyber attack on the NHS (and others). Good timing, I feel extremely well-informed!

As a person who looked for well organized CyberSec Fundamentals I'm extremely satisfied. The course is really smooth for few reasons: 1. the lecturer is great. Period. It is guaranteed you're not going to feel sleepy at any time; 2. all important aspects are presented in simple way; 3. weekly tasks cause you to remember nuances; 4.if you ignore 'additional resources' part (joke)- attention here - I'd recommend to plan your time well to cover this valuable part. Topics vary from internet protocols description articles to entertaining yet educating stories. I wish the certification would cost less (I compare with few other ones I took in EdX) as I also plan to continue to Micro Master, but overall the course is 5 stars.

I am so happy and delighted I enrolled for this course. Its definitely a career path gateway. The course contents were awesome and the instructor eloquent. Acquiring skill and dexterity in the field starts with the fundamentals which forms the foundation for a career in cybersecurity. I am delighted I undertook this course and would definitely complete the Micromaster with a plan to further pursue a MSc in the field.

This course is very interesting, covering all the basis of cybersecurity. I strongly recommend this course to anyone interested in having a foundation on Cybersecurity, or who want to refresh their knowledge before exploring the subject further. The instructor is very interesting, motivating and captivating. Its explanations are clear and can be understood by any public (even non-specialist). I would gladly follow another course of M. Weissmann

By far, one of the best courses I've taken on edx.org. It is the content that is provided throughout the course that was refreshing. Links to real world events that helped understand the importance of what we were learning. From the every day individual wanting to learn more about cyber security to the IT Professional, there is something to be learned here. This course is only the introduction. I look forward to what is to come!

I strongly recommend this course to everyone wishing to start a career in Cybersecurity or those already working in this field willing to have a review training. Why it is so great? I would start with the instructor, Jonathan is fun, enthusiastic, incredibly knowledgeable. He is one of these guys you would spend hours discussing security with and learn something new each time. The structure of the course itself is also great. Although it is self-paced although it will require dedication. Spend some time navigating on the additional material pages, they include lots of articles and news of the security world. And if you do have a chance, attend, at least, one of the live classes, it is a great chance to meet with other security professionals and Jonathan himself.

I will put it in Spanish and then in English because I know that many like me of Spanish speaking will find this formidable course, although our language is not English, the teacher explains so didactically that you understand it to perfection. All the topics are very interesting and updated, I am very satisfied, I recommend to all those who are interested in security in the digital world.
