I was looking for an up to date MOOC covering any aspects of cybersecurity to start learning on that subject. After a few disappointements, I almost accidentally found The MicroMaters'Cybersecurity Fundamentals MOOC which actually perfectly met my needs ! Jonathan is a great teacher, being very instructive and able to bring interest on any subjet covered in this MOOC. A wide range of subjects is covered in a very understandable manner. And last but not least, the content of the additional resources is full of relevant stories and articles. I am looking forward to attend to the second part of this program !

As a person who looked for well organized CyberSec Fundamentals I'm extremely satisfied. The course is really smooth for few reasons: 1. the lecturer is great. Period. It is guaranteed you're not going to feel sleepy at any time; 2. all important aspects are presented in simple way; 3. weekly tasks cause you to remember nuances; 4.if you ignore 'additional resources' part (joke)- attention here - I'd recommend to plan your time well to cover this valuable part. Topics vary from internet protocols description articles to entertaining yet educating stories. I wish the certification would cost less (I compare with few other ones I took in EdX) as I also plan to continue to Micro Master, but overall the course is 5 stars.

I've been working in the commercial area of a couple of network and data security companies, since more than 7 years. Professor Weissman's Cyber Security course has provided me enlightenment and will be very helpful in my job, as I'm aware now, from a more technical point of view, about malware and threats mechanisms and how to prevent and counteract them. My respects and thanks to professor Weissman.

Prof Jonathan S. Weissman have delivered a great course and I think I did relatively well. Unfortunately I did not upgrade to “Verified”. If it’s possible, I am planning to re-enrol (Cybersecurity Fundamentals) and upgrade to Verified. I am planning to pursue this RITx Cybersecurity MicroMasters Program. TT

The course is great just like the teacher. Sometimes it has been difficult to me because of the technical English that I do not handle very well so I´m forced to translate all the courses . I started the course to learn about this subject and today I am a student opting for a verified certificate ... Thank you Mr. Jonathan S. Weisman for his desire to teach ..

Jonathan's content is great, the course is a great introduction not only to cyber security theory with easy to understand examples. As a computer science graduate of 10 years ago, it has been great to get a refresher course in networking basics too.

The course is very comprehensive and covers all the basics in a very easy to understand examples. Even though I know the basics on packets, frames, switch, hub and routers, I realized there are still some things that I do not know. It is truly a good course with references and plenty of reading material and real life new reports. Jonathan is very experienced in delivering the content and even if you have zero knowledge, the concepts are explained in lay man term and practical reading and hands-on quiz test on key concepts.

I initially signed up for this MOOC because I’ve been gradually learning Android programming and thought it might give me some insights into the security issues I knew I’d need to address if I ever reached the point of doing actual app development. As a volunteer, I provide technical support to my local, community-based literacy organization and also teach English to immigrants. Because sensitive information is maintained on program computers, and because tutors are often asked by learns for guidance on computer-related issues that also involve sensitive information, cybersecurity awareness is just as important here as it is in any for-profit business. However, especially in rural areas such as mine, community-based organizations (CBO’s) are not only generally staffed by people with limited computer skills, but high turnover also makes developing and implementing a cybersecurity plan virtually impossible. However, especially in rural areas such as mine, community-based organizations (CBO’s) are not only generally staffed by people with limited computer skills, but high turnover also makes developing and implementing a cybersecurity plan virtually impossible. With a few exceptions, computing skills range from poor to nonexistent. As I watched the videos from the first week’s cybersecurity course, I quickly realized that this information could be highly useful to anyone responsible for managing cyberinformation, whether personally or professionally, and recommended the course to a few people in the educational system. This course does have some highly technical segments, but one of the advantages of a MOOC is that you skim through a course without any penalty, picking up the information that is meaningful to you and glossing over the rest. The technical stuff is useful, but if one can’t understand it, there is a wealth of non-technical information that is good to know, the awareness of which could prevent some serious legal and other complications down the road.

The content is very well structured. Also suitable for beginners with only basic knowledge of network. If more examples can be showed or explained in the video part, that would be more attractive.

Even after having earned an AAS Computer Science degree in the recent past, I discovered that at the close of this course I now understand many core networking concepts better than I did after more traditional college courses. Professor Weissman presents the material in a clear, concise, easy to follow fashion that makes it readily accessible across different levels of student experience. There is ZERO fluff in this course - all of the material presented directly relates to achieving course objectives for content and comprehension. This is the first of Professor Weissman's courses I have signed up for, but on the strength of this one I have also signed up for his Computer Forensics course, and am giving serious consideration to pursuing the Cybersecurity MicroMasters.

This course is very informative, although it is the first course in the series, be prepared to learn a lot about cyber security. The videos are very helpful, and will help with all the graded and ungraded tests. The instructor himself is very helpful too, and very quick to reply to any questions.

This course is one of the best on this topic I have taken via any MOOC learning platform. Content is for everyone, even people who for first time meet with this field. I would like if financial help is more affordable. Here are people from all over the world and with very low incomes or without incomes at all, what from US angle could be considered as poverty.

Amazingly organized, excellently presented, and great content. Honestly, one of the most professional looking course I have EVER taken in my life. The professor, is truly fantastic. He wears a super cool sweatshirt each lecture;the transitions, animations, and visualizations are AMAZING;and the course is extremely well organized.I highly recommend this course to anyone and everyone!! Do however note that it takes about 1-4 hours a week and definitely not more than 4 hours.

This was my first course at RIT and I enjoyed every moment of it. The videos are great. The reading material is varied and thus very enjoying to read. The hands-on exercises in the course are fun and very educational and I would have liked more of those. The only negative was that a few of the web pages that were linked to were not working, but then again the end destination of those links are not controlled by RIT so it's probably to be expected. Thanks again, and I make it through the next course.

I do love Cybersecurity. I am an IT Professional I am interested in learning more about Cyber Security, especially now that we have so many cyber attacks, it is really important to keep one updated in this subject area. I truly enjoyed the course and learned a great deal. The way the course was delivered and organized by Jonathan S. Weissman and his team was engaging and I felt motivated to complete the course. It would be nice to enrol on RITx Cybersecurity MicroMasters Program

I'm very grateful for this course. The contents are very helpful .The teacher is excellent, teaches with passion and encourage his students. The provider and platform is very friendly. The things I missed: 1) More practical excercises 2) Study a real case of attack. See how the hackers did it, how to avoid it for future, ....

Unfortunately this course only contains empty phrases. It is only about mentioning buzz words like 'authentication' and 'identification', or 'data integrity' and 'data confidentiality'. The instructor only emphasized how important or dangerous these things are, without ever explaining how anything works. All that I learnt from this course is to say these words.
