To complement, pivot charts and slicers can be used together to visualize data and create easy to use dashboards.

You should have a basic understanding of creating formulas and how cells are referenced by rows and columns within Excel to take this course. If required, you can can find many help topics on Excel at the Microsoft Office Support Site. You are welcome to use any supported version of Excel you have installed in your computer, however, the instructions are based on Excel 2016. You may not be able to complete all exercises as demonstrated in the lectures but workarounds are provided in the lab instructions or Discussion forum. Please note that Excel for Mac does not support many of the features demonstrated in this course.

After taking this course you’ll be ready to continue to our more advanced Excel course, Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Excel.

Very good. Would have been even better if there was a closer connection between video lecture and quiz/lab material. Something like the following: 1. A simple demonstration 2. Exercise similar to demonstration 3. Demonstration of complexities 4. Exercise requiring generalization of complexities. Good job.

The materials and quizzes were fin. Instructions were properly laid out as well as they were simple to follow. One point for improvement would be the video material if it can be more engaging.

This is a useful, very much to-the point course, divided into very manageable chunks. The videos are slow-paced and easy to follow, even for a newbie. Good for learning some basics about pivot tables. Drawbacks? The video quality; the presentations are blurry. And I found that somehow in the lab sections I was given too many cues, they guide you step by step every time, which in the end doesn't check your practical knowledge so well. If I were to remake the course, I think I would add another lab section (the current one is still useful, to be sure) to each unit, this time one with just the questions and no hints as to how to get there. I reccommend nevertheless.

Well simplified and educative. The instructor made it very easy to understand and the other course contents were well detailed. Thanks to Microsoft and edX for such great learning opportunity. It's just unfortunate that after I successfully passed the course, I don't have adequate finance to pay for the certificate.

Excellent. I had to design a training class for Federal workers on how to do basic data analysis on short notice and I used everything I learned from these classes to create and instruct my own class.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. The lecture demonstrated the topics very well. The hands-on exercises helped to solidify the concepts taught in the lecture. One opportunity for improvement - at times the numbers and clicks taken were very difficult to read. Enlarging the viewing area helped tremendously.

Would have been even better if there was a closer connection between video lecture and quiz/lab material. I thought that the "further reading" materials were actually very helpful because the quizzes sometimes have information that the videos don't include. I wanted to take this course to learn to use more things about Excel, I knew the basics, tables, charts, some functions. I highly reccommend this course to those that want to learn more about Excel. First time doing anything like the things shown in this course. Lesson 6 was certainly the most challenging for me. Sometimes you'll need to watch the video more than once to really see/understand what he is doing and catch the differences between his tables and yours.

The course was great and full of information. I really enjoyed it! I wish the labs were provided before the quizzes so that I could practice what was taught in the videos and have a better understanding before completing the quiz. Dany is a very good instructor. I had a hard time following him in module 6, and at some points his accent threw me but I appreciated the video scripts. I felt as though there was not enough explanation of the formulas in module 6 and because the numbers in the videos do not match the given exercises, I had no way of being sure my formulas and numbers were right until I took the quiz and got almost every question wrong for that module. Maybe there can be an explanation of how to be sure that the formulas are working correctly. I'm sure I had 1 tiny typo that threw everything off but I have no clue what I did wrong or right because there is no way to verify my work. All I know is that I got it wrong because ... Perfectly designed and facilitated. I feel it was lacking some guidance with the use of functions and formulas but I was able to make my way through it by utilizing assistance via the internet. Otherwise, the instructor was great, clear and concise, and the content was perfect for the course level.

Very well explained. The quizzes and labs force you to learn by doing instead of simply listening to the lectures. This ensures that we learn and encounter problems that we can then fix to reinforce various manipulations. I would suggest that the labs be presented before the quizzes. I learned so much in them that I felt I was better prepared for the quizzes after doing the labs. The discussion sections truly helped when I was confused at certain points. Great course. Made Excel less intimidating and more exciting!

I think it is a good introduction to the Excel powerful tools which are not so widely used by ordinary users. The example of company selling bicycles and accessories is wisely chosen so that students use the same data in all lab exercises and analyze them from different aspects.
