Course Description

More than 2000 years ago, long before rockets were launched into orbit or explorers sailed around the globe, a Greek mathematician measured the size of the Earth using nothing more than a few facts about lines, angles, and circles. This course will start at the very beginnings of geometry, answering questions like "How big is an angle?" and "What are parallel lines?" and proceed up through advanced theorems and proofs about 2D and 3D shapes. Along the way, you'll learn a few different ways to find the area of a triangle, you'll discover a shortcut for counting the number of stones in the Great Pyramid of Giza, and you'll even come up with your own estimate for the size of the Earth.

In this course, you'll be able to choose your own path within each lesson, and you can jump between lessons to quickly review earlier material. GeometryX covers a standard curriculum in high school geometry, and CCSS (common core) alignment is in...

Take this course before the GRE and you won't regret. It covers many basic concepts which are good for the very beginners. Thank you very much for it, I would like to also take a course in statistics and probability.

This is a good course which covers almost basic Geometry a student needs to know. This is also one of the first courses of mine on edX. Great course!

My favorite way so far of learning math. Math to me is something that I quickly get discouraged, and easily confused. This course is perfect to ensure that you fully understand Geometry in a simple way, with opportunities to practice and expand your knowledge. I like how they often apply math to real life problems. This was a nice experience for me.

+ Clearly and succinctly explained interactive lectures. Very innovative teaching methods. + Emphasis on completing exercises (doing) + Plenty of help if you get stuck on a exercise + Proofs offered (optional) + Highly recommend the course. Similar in form to Khan Academy, but more interactive and better executed.

Great course so far. The interactive videos are a great way to keep people engaged and contain reviews when new material depends on knowledge of previously covered material. This course is fun to take.

The content is excellent, and the interactive material is extremely helpful. I appreciated that the instructor responded to me when I had questions. I need to reconstitute my math background to take a mandatory class in statistics; I want you to know how much I appreciate this class being offered and that I hope you will indeed offer Algebra II and Trig.

i am very pleased i came across edx and particularly the introduction to geometry, given by school yourself. i was never taught maths very well and didnt have a natural gift for it and so therefore never seemed to understand or have fun with anything related. i am helping a school student / child with schooling and so together we are working through your programme and i am so happy that i can prove my teachers of past wrong and believe in myself and create a new and more positive perception within me, about myself and geometry ... and maybe, who knows, other mathematical subjets too, one day... i am not stupid and i am learning and able to understand, in this lifetime... its also wonderful to see the excitement of this child, who has not been exposed or influenced by others - fellow students woes or teachers who dont have a passion or know how to do their job properly.. and the keenness to do this class is so amazing. the progress re... i am very pleased i came across edx and particularly the introduction to geometry, given by school yourself. i was never taught maths very well and didnt have a natural gift for it and so therefore never seemed to understand or have fun with anything related. i am helping a school student / child with schooling and so together we are working through your programme and i am so happy that i can prove my teachers of past wrong and believe in myself and create a new and more positive perception within me, about myself and geometry ... and maybe, who knows, other mathematical subjets too, one day... i am not stupid and i am learning and able to understand, in this lifetime... its also wonderful to see the excitement of this child, who has not been exposed or influenced by others - fellow students woes or teachers who dont have a passion or know how to do their job properly.. and the keenness to do this class is so amazing. the progress reports are lovely to keep track on.. the possibilities to review sections unsure of, is great along with the clarity, simplicity and breaking it down into small easily digestable sections are fantastic... we thank you! and hope ! ! ! that more courses can become available from you in the future... as we are very interested and i am sure others are too.. with thanks

SchoolYourself is taking online courses to the next level. I never thought this course will be so much revolutionary at the time of enrolling. Kudos for making Geometry topics trivial to even people from non-mathematical background. Their courseware and approach to teaching are fast faced and not boring unlike most of the online courses. Reinforcing the past concepts throughout the course helps a lot. Thanks for producing such high quality courseware and content. Looking forward to more topics from SchoolYourself.
