This is a very good course for starting if you do not have any previous knowledge about R. In case you do know something you may find the course brief and easy

I had no prior experience in programming at all, and I found this course very accessible and very useful as well. I have just finished it and I'm already applying what I learned in scientific papers that I'm writing. I certainly feel like I'm thoroughly introduced to R and I both have skills I can directly apply and also knowledge that will allow be to dwelve even futher into more specific courses. I'd only like to make two suggestions. First, I think overall there could be some more cumulative exercises throughout the chapters. I know it saves the learner some time, but for instance, instead of pre-loading some basic coding (e.g. vectors, matrices, etc.) into more complex exercises (e.g. data frames), let the learner code at least some of them on his or her own. That might help solidify a little better every chapter, specially the earlier and more elemental ones. Second, in particular the chapter 6.3 I found a little harder. Of cour... Of course the challenging exercises are part of why this course is so effective, that's not what I'm saying. But personally, and specifically in that chapter, I felt like the connection between the lecture and the lab exercises were less smooth, so perhaps you can look that over. Other than that, thank you for this amazing course.

A good comprehensive introduction. Two parts are however definitely missing: Getting input from external databases (or Excel) and creating output, which can be used for further processing (e.g. in a Word document) Anyway, thanks a lot. It offers a very good start using R.

This is a well explained course, it really dug deep into R. I would have missed a lot if I did not do this course. When I saw "Introduction to R", I was not expecting so much because, I have done a full semester in my graduate studies using R. I just did this class to assist me along with the class. But, as rigorous as my graduate class was, I could not do much on this, until the end of the class. Going through the lectures, quizzes, and especially the exercises, it was far beyond my expectation. I got to know some basic things that I ought to have known that would have saved me so much time on my graduate course. Thank you so much.

In my opinion this is an excellent course. It makes R look so easy and comprehensive. The examples are very accurate, I think it couldn't be better made.

The course was well paced and all topics were touched upon. Both the Multiple choice and the lab exercises were very good and helpful and clearing basic concepts of the topics. Also the external sources were another huge help to the course. This was my first online course and certainly was an impressive and satisfactory experience. The course was a good introduction to R and broadly to the field of data science.

Great for novices like me! I am total newbie in data analysis but I can say this course was a great start to R. I know I still have tons to learn on the subject before being able to produce relevant data analysis but I definitely feel more confident now. Superb method and format!

Great introductory course to R! The instructor is very capable of delivering the material. Great examples to work the theory for variable types, manipulation of them, data manipulation and plotting. Once this course is finished you will be able to decide if R is your language of preference.

Awesome course, I started this course 3 weeks ago with not knowing how to write "Hello World" in R, now I can create vectors, data frames and even plot graphs. I have been interested in Data Science and this is a very good intro into the course concepts. I will still need to go through the material again, but I grasped the concept. Thanks for making Data Science accessible for free.

It is a great start especially for non-programmers. The instructor builds the content to connect with the audience and the labs provide guidance and a great introduction to the R environment

Very good course for R basics. It covered very important topics of R with good examples and helpful Lab exercises. Practical exercises was a good exposure to a R code and different datasets. Helped me a lot :-)

Excellent and enjoyable course. The self-paced and user-friendly format worked well. One can always experiment with code/syntax in the R console (for labs) - a format very conducive to proper learning and recall. Also - Filip is terrific!

Really easy format to learn R. Indicated to everyone who seeks to understand the basics. I don't have a technical computer engineering background, I'm an economist, and I could manage to finish the course with a lot of comprehension on the matter. Totally indicated.

This is a great step by step introduction course for people that have zero experience in R, it goes over basic terms and basic programming, that are key to advance in R. Highly recommended.

Certainly the best introductory MOOC to R Programming. Very organized, didactic and direct, especially useful for those who are new to R and programming, in general, but still very useful for those with experience in programming, but who wish a quick start to R. Thank you Philip and Microsoft for the opportunity and your support. I recommend it to everyone!

It was a very nice course i have enrolled and studied. I want now a higher level course online so please contact for that concern. It looked like a great course. i knew nothing when i started but later on i would like to thank my trainer how smoothly he explained the concepts and made language easier for me. I would say that the labs were really great. But the course was a little concise and would have provided more details about R anyways thankyou datacamp and thankyou microsoft.

Good job for an intro course. There were a couple of very rare occasions where a question was vague or a lab instruction was difficult to understand/under explained, but I only missed one question in the whole course, so no worries.

I really enjoyed this course. It was very well structured, with brief introductory videos for each topic, followed by well thought out exercises, which you do online. I'm looking forward to doing more classes with Datacamp.

This was a wonderful course. Just before I signed up for this course, I started on my own with Datacamp's Introduction to R, but I found easier for me to take the one from edX (even though the course uses Datacamp). The short videos and quizzes provided an excellent prologue to the lab exercises. I think it is important to say this is indeed an introduction to R, some of you may think it could be too easy, but this is ideal for beginners (like me). After this, I will look for an intermediate level or a course with specific applications (or both at the same time). Thanks Microsoft and Datacamp! You really started me on data science programming!

This as a good fundamental course. Well explained, however challenging. The instructor was excellent. You must do the exercises!!! This is how you really learn R! I love that Microsoft teamed up with DataCamp. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn R.

One of the best courses I took so far. Before taking the course, I didnt have any experience in data analytics whatsoever. I basically wanted to learn R prior to my big data class. I found this course very useful and easy to follow.
