Good basics for Lean Management to target a Yellow Belt. It is also easy to follow with a high workload-life (video and courses are available long enough to review as often as you want later on). Compact and well organise, the wording is accessible to all. Good examples and concrete cases that can be easly compared to my daily work. Teachers are easy to reach if you got any questions and really professionals. I really recommend this course for all who are in the field and wants to understand and improve suppliers or own factory/ services.

The course was excellent from every aspect:
Topics are split up in 6 sessions/weeks that accommodated a full time employee to still manage a good work-life balance. The analytical process is explained in easy words, so one must not be afraid of not understanding the context, if not a native english speaker. The teachers are easy to reach out to and answered questions right away. (Thank you so much). The course is well structured with easy understandable examples the students can do their calculations on. I can fully recommend to chose this course over a 1-day on-site training that is offered at high costs. Despite the fact that the additional time also provides you more detailed explanations in the videos and more examples, expanding the topics over several weeks gives you time to reflect the learned and adopt it to your daily work. You can review the videos as often as you need and do your maths until you have a good grasp ... The course was excellent from every aspect:

I am ashamed to admit that coming into this course I had no idea what Lean Production was and was only taking the course as it was part of the Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification program that I was interested in obtaining. I could not be happier with myself for taking this course because the information I obtained there has helped me immensely in my work and home life. The material was presented in an easy-to-understand and logical way, with concepts that were learned earlier on in the course becoming applicable again in later sections. Lecture slides were provided, which was nice since I like printing them out and making notes on them while watching the lecture content. While some may feel that this course would only be useful to those working in manufacturing, this could not be further from the truth. Lecture slides were provided, which was nice since I like printing them out and making notes on them while watching the lecture content. While some may feel that this course would only be useful to those working in manufacturing, this could not be further from the truth. Working in IT, I have already applied some of the concepts learned in my daily work such as visual management (shadow board, labelling shelves containing specific equipment) for tools and equipment on-hand, Kanban cards for inventory, and Single Minute Exchange of Die for optimizing installations and processes. I have also implemented the 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) model when it came to organizing my tools and supplies both at home and at work. The instructor, Dr. Holly Ott was one of the best I had ever experienced, coming from an in-class and online university-level course perspective. Not only were her lectures engaging and informative but she showed a genuine interest in the subject matter. She went above and beyond what I would expect from any prof and in addition to providing a great portion of the lectures herself, was also a frequent poster in the discussion forums. The guest lecturers that were brought in were world class experts and it showed. They were able to explain increasingly difficult concepts using basic examples and to me, that is a sign of someone who really knows what they’re talking about! I also wanted to mention that taking good notes in this course is a must since there are so many different concepts being thrown at you that unless you take good notes now, you may be a little bit confused later on. I still sometimes re-read my notes or re-watch a video to get a better grasp on a topic and see if and how I can implement it at work and in my daily life. Thank you, Professor Ott, all of the guest lecturers and TAs, and the rest of the TUM team that worked tirelessly to bring this MOOC to us!

Dear TUM, I am grateful to be one of you MOOC'S student. Really, it helps me a lot specially when I took my ASQ CSSYB and CQIA. It's almost a year now since I started this professional certificate program and I am happy to inform you that I completed all of 3 verified certificates. Although, I am working as Nurse but I know that some of those concept's are applicable or can be applied in healthcare setting. Thank Professor Holy and Other's TUM faculty for your great effort that boosted my passion in Quality field. Regards, Manuel

The course content is great. It starts with basic definitions, allowing the understanding of the context to people who have never had contact with the subject, as was my case. The evolution of the content happens in an great order, with an appropriate rhythm. There is theoretical and practical content. The teachers are didactic and always try to take examples from everyday life, which facilitates the learning. I recommend the course!

One of the best MOOC on Lean production that you can find online. Whether you are a novice or an expert, this course gives you the concise content that is required to understand lean. The course is well structured, perfectly presented with case studies, examples, math problems, discussion forum, guest lectures given by prominent faculty members from reputed universities around the world. The best things about the course are the faculty members & the participants, who bring in rich diverse experience either educationally or professionally or both. I would recommend this course as well as other courses that are part of TUM's Professional Certificate Program to those who want to learn or brush up their skills in six sigma and lean. Thank You Mr.Martin, Mrs. Holly, Mr. Reiner, Mr.Zubair and the entire support team. Take a bow!

I happened on the Lean Production Course by chance. I reluctantly enrolled for it. But when Holly came on, I remained glued to my screen. In fact, I was annoyed when I discovered the modules were split into weeks. I was hungry for more. The lectures are eye opening and captivating. The guest lecturers were wonderful in their presentations. I liked it that I can download all the videos and handouts too. Thanks Professor Holly and team. I am sending my friends here.

The course content of Lean production was fabulous and the instructor induced interest in the subject with decent examples. The course content is downloadable and the discussion forum provides clarifications to doubts, more importantly posts of people implementing lean in their respective work stream was an added insight.

In short this course is great! I would have to choose one word to describe this course it would be “efficient”. Detailed review. The lectures cover all important Lean topics. Typical lecture is about 10-15min long and covers one topic or gives an overview. This means it is possible to distribute course material over the week or go through the material on a weekend. If you look for more information useful links, books etc are provided. You can use discussion board to ask questions or to discuss a topic in general. Discussion board provided many real-life and first-hand experience. Handouts and videos can be downloaded. It is useful for offline learning or if you want to print something out. Both videos and handouts are informative, clear and to the point. Case studies and homework provide real-life examples and help you to understand material. In general the course materials are well prepared. Questions on the discussion board ... In short this course is great! At the beginning I took this course just to show current or future employers my experience in this topic and didn't expect anything so new for me as it's my filed of work as a manager in continuous improvement. But as the course commenced, I have learnt more and more details that I could already implement in day to day work. I really enjoyed this course and it's sure that i will enroll in the additional ones in this TUMx professional program. Prof. Holly Ott and her team managed to develop a great MOOC that is fun and horizon expanding. Prof. Ott is a frequent follower (and responder) of forum discussions which encourages everyone to exchange experiences. Not to forget the emails you get during the course with great pointers to real world problems. All in all, I can recommend this MOOC a lot to anyone who is even remote interested in lean and production management.

I did enjoy the course. It is a about 2.5 ECTS course on Lean. It covers lean techniques in detail and give you a preparation for seeking further. Materials (PDFs and explanation videos) are very clear and well prepared. Case studies and homework allows you to set concepts and apply them into real cases. Professors are masters on sig sigma and lean. So, listening and attending videos are both educational and enjoyable. Indeed I recommend this course and the program.

This course is the last one in Six Sigma - Lean production offered by TUM on EdX. First thing : while it’s been said that this course can be taken as stand alone, I really think it is best to take first the 2 other courses on Six Sigma, at least if you are a novice in quality management. The course itself is really great. It covers a lot of subject and it is a good help for any manager having to deal with productivity issues, not only in manufacturing but also in service industry. The instructors are very good, they know their subject and can easily pass their knowledge to the student through the lectures. One of the best thing for me was to see the theory applied to real life examples (you’ll see that Professor Holly is really into skateboarding!). Bottom line, I recommend this course!

This was a well organized, insightful and practical course on lean. It was a perfect balance of lectures, case studies and homework which continually transformed concepts into reality. The instructors were excellent and experts in the field. It gave me a very solid grounding in lean production and associated methods and I woukd recommend it to anyone with interest in the area and working on six sigma.

It is very fulfilling experience to complete the requirements of this course. The new knowledge I gained from the three courses are awesome. Since day one of the course, all interesting facts about quality improvement and processes enlightened my queries. This course really like a brick and mortar learning from the start and exceeded my expectations and I am sure other learners also will agree with me.
