Course Description

You love music. You listen to music all the time. Maybe you sing, play an instrument, or compose music. You don’t need to have musical talent to use music to enhance your well being, and even your health.

Learn simple techniques to enrich your mind, body, and spirit through music. The methods can be applied in your daily life, particularly when you are feeling down or stressed out. Developed by a board-certified music therapist and a vocalist/pianist/composer/recording artist specializing in Indian music, these strategies combine science with the wisdom of Eastern philosophy.

In the course, discover how to unlock your creativity. You will learn not only how to listen to music in a new way, but also how to listen to the impact that music has on you. You will find out how to care for yourself by practicing coping techniques that are supported by music that is special to you.

This is a really lovely course, useful one. I have learnt new things. The content was presented in a very nice way. It is very, very creative course and through exercises you actually push yourself to do a lot - what you probably would not imagine you can. I think that course could be improved by better structure (I honestly did not understand the current one) and by more meaningful videos and more exercises that fit into course title and content. I recommend this course and I thank to nice instructors, Suzanne and Annette, for good tips and great exercises.

I loved this course. It was educational, interesting and really practical. I came away from it with a whole new set of tools that I can use in my everyday life, and a greater understanding of the role music can play in our wellbeing. Thank you!

Worst MOOC I have taken! I learn tabla and Indian Classical Music since three years. I was very excited when I enrolled but it's week two and I am leaving. You don't learn anything at all: there are a few videos - all are very short, less than 5 minutes each week - and the teachers never talk to you, never comment on the discussion forum. The first exercice was to create a song. Not creating a real song, just sing a few words on your phone and that's it. The ressources include books on how to sing etc (that I didn't order because I don't want to buy books for a MOOC), a few You Tube videos, Deepak Chopra's website and a link to a website similar to Wikileaks in order to understand the brain! They ask us to join the Facebook support group, but impossible to be added because the page administator just don't add the new requests! (Others had the same problem). Don't lose your time with this mediocre MOOC.

I myself am a medical professional. I think this course is valuable: a professionally oriented course with easily understood materials (videos, references and handbooks) and awesome instructors. It is worth it to earn the verified certificate. I strongly suggest this course for anyone interested in music therapy.
