Truly an eye-opening course! It makes you think about different aspects of knowledge, science and argumentation in a way you have never done before. It not only questions what we look at knowledge but also how knowledge is set, by looking at it from a critical standpoint. The instructors are absolutely fantastic and the course itself is a great combination of humor, education aswell as focus on individual thinking. Highly recommended regardless of your field, occupation or current education.

The course offers a fantastic mix of information and entertainment. The lecturers appear highly engaged in the topics they present. The course presents a challenge - since not all texts are easy to read and require one to think about them - with the reward of being able to make a little more sense of the world we live in. Especially the critical thinking sections are very practical and will likely change the course takers view on argumentation as well as his/her own thought processes. To me the course was highly interesting and it provided me with some good laughs too. I can only recommend it to anyone who is at least remotely interested in philosophy.

This course makes good use of video as well as humor to drive a point. It was a good intro to philosophy for me, but I found the critical thinking sections much more interesting and enjoyable.

It’s very charming and uses humor throughout. The glossary fairy in particular cracked me up every time. The learning material itself is of good quality, but not very rigorous. Every week contains roughly 1 hour worth of video lectures. There are weekly quizzes to solidify your knowledge, but they are few and not very challenging. Content is equally split between “critical thinking” and philosophy topics. I enjoyed the former much more than the latter, but that is more due to personal preference. The course only lasts 4 weeks so it’s a stretch to call it a university course. More like a tutorial. It took me about 12 hours to go through the entire thing and I’m satisfied with the amount I learned.

I signed up for this course because I thought it did not begin until next year - so only came in at the very end. However, I found it rather elementary, and I'm too old to appreciate the jokey style, so I think I'll look for something more serious. However, this should not be construed as a negative review...more of an apology for not reading the presenation correctly.

Another excellent UofQ course. Still time to sign up for the four mods that will take you through the basics of philosophical and critical thinking. I was really impressed how well they simply and concisely explain many of the logical fallacies people can fall into and how to avoid them. Great instructors!! Well organized!! Fair grading scheme!! I hope they extend the end date so more people can discover and benefit from this course.

I thought that course was extremely interesting, concise and at the same time elaborate enough on key ideas. The instructors managed to bridge issues of scientific progress and epistemology with the pillars of Western classical philosophy which was no mean feat. This is the type of course that can change your view on things and that you typically revisit at later stages of your life. Highly recommended.

I did not require Philosophy for my bachelor's degree, and have regretted not taking it. This class was designed so one can delve into more readings or listen to extended lectures or not, depending upon the level of interest. I found the philosopher discussions to be interesting. I haven't had a course quite pique my thinking as this one did. Nice balance of videos (some humorous) with readings.

The production value is really high. As for content, it's alright but I'm only a quarter way through. I will update once finished. Totally recommend because the instructors are interesting and there are some nice video effects so you won't get bored.

I did this course last year and it was incredibly satisfying. The course content is second-to-none and the instructors did very well to explain everything clearly and concisely. 10/10 would recommend.

With 4 weeks a relatively short course, but packed with useful information nevertheless. The content of each week is divided into introducing new key terms and concepts and delving deeper into certain areas. The topic never gets boring because of the variety of the teaching materials: lecture videos; example videos; short readings, practice quizzes.
