Professor Nagy and his teaching fellows bring this material alive. Professor Nagy and his teaching fellows bring this material alive. One could plausibly ask, what could the social norms of an ancient culture that existed thousands of years ago possibly have to do with life today? The answer is - everything. Although our setting and circumstance has changed, human nature has not, and in this course we are invited to explore the human condition. In so doing, Nagy et al. also pull off an amazing feat - proving that one can engage in humanities focused coursework (rather than simply technical education) in an on-line forum. The style and structure of this course make it look easy, when for many years many doubted whether this was even possible. Projects like Ancient Greek Hero are paving the way for making deep and meaningful education available for all who seek it.
