In Skillshare’s unique philosophy, everyone is a teacher, and everyone is a learner. Rather than a traditional lecture format, courses are offered within a global online learning community in which learners collaborate and learn by doing. Instructors are industry leaders who share their skills with anyone who wants to learn. No credits are offered. Founded by online entrepreneurs Michael Karnjanaprakorn and Malcolm Ong, Skillshare’s online “campus” was launched in April 2011. Its catalog has grown from 15 to more than 250 online courses that cover creative arts, entrepreneurship, branding and marketing, lifestyle and technology. The School of MakeOurMark, with courses in photography, illustration and tattooing, was launched in October 2013, and the School of Design went live the following month. Among the instructors who have taught courses are Seth Godin, founder of online marketing firm Yoyodyne, who teaches a class on entrepreneurship; DJ Young Guru, who leads a course on mixing and recording; and actor, writer and director James Franco, whose course focuses on screenwriting for short films. You can begin a Skillshare collaboration by taking an introductory course in a particular area to learn, for example, the fundamentals of Photoshop and expand your knowledge with a five-part, in-depth Photoshop series.

Course Description

Welcome to Brine Time with Grillo's Pickles!  My name is Travis Grillo and along with the help of my cousin and right hand man Eric, we have put together a class on the art of pickling.

Eric and I know first hand how fun, delicious, and creative pickling can be, so we are incredibly excited to share some techniques with the people!  In this class we will go over supplies, types of brines, vegetable characteristics, and more useful bits of knowledge that will bring your at-home pickling skills to the next level.  (We WILL NOT, however, be giving away the Grillo's secret recipe... Sorry we're not sorry!)

The Grillo's Pickles company has grown from selling jars out of the trunk of an '85 Cutlass Supreme to running Boston's first pickle boutique retail store.  As a result, we want to give the class a chance to shine by featuring a small batch of OUR FAVORITE student submitted pickle recipe in our s...

If you don't know anything about pickling, but you love eating pickles and you love tinkering around in the kitchen, then this is a perfectly fine class. It's one quick video that gives you an overview and encourages you to experiment on your own. If you want anything more in-depth than that, then it's not the class for you.

The class is a loose overview so it might be difficult if you have no pickling experience. It's mostly a guideline to how varied pickles can be; don't expect polished recipes. I would not have thought of using some of the ingredients so the out of the box thinking was fun.

While I liked the demeanor and approach of the instructor, I thought there was very little in the way of useful information. His advise is to just experiment until you get the flavors right. But honestly, I don't need a class to tell me that. I would have like to learn more about why certain ingredients are used, what proportions are used in classic pickle mixes. It would also have helped to know what things that are not advisable in the process of making pickles. Even 10 minutes more of content would have made this "course" better.

Very interesting to learn about pickling. Good stuff. I would have liked some more basic recipes and rules, instead of all the 'whatever you like' and 'it's your choice' in the video.

This is a great class! Short and sweet, it hit all the right things and now I feel like I can pickle anything! This is a wonderful start, and I'll be sure to dive into more with time.

you're essentially watching a single 5 or 10min vid on how to make pickles (it was better than free youtube ones i found). and then you yourself try to make pickles.

I do not recommend this class. Get yourself a recipe. Don't bother to join you get no feedback just a few dudes who say you can put vegetables and other stuff in a jar.

Watched this and within a couple of hours started the process of pickling. Played around with pickling green beans a couple of different ways.
