In Skillshare’s unique philosophy, everyone is a teacher, and everyone is a learner. Rather than a traditional lecture format, courses are offered within a global online learning community in which learners collaborate and learn by doing. Instructors are industry leaders who share their skills with anyone who wants to learn. No credits are offered. Founded by online entrepreneurs Michael Karnjanaprakorn and Malcolm Ong, Skillshare’s online “campus” was launched in April 2011. Its catalog has grown from 15 to more than 250 online courses that cover creative arts, entrepreneurship, branding and marketing, lifestyle and technology. The School of MakeOurMark, with courses in photography, illustration and tattooing, was launched in October 2013, and the School of Design went live the following month. Among the instructors who have taught courses are Seth Godin, founder of online marketing firm Yoyodyne, who teaches a class on entrepreneurship; DJ Young Guru, who leads a course on mixing and recording; and actor, writer and director James Franco, whose course focuses on screenwriting for short films. You can begin a Skillshare collaboration by taking an introductory course in a particular area to learn, for example, the fundamentals of Photoshop and expand your knowledge with a five-part, in-depth Photoshop series.

I love Gary. He's interesting, engaging, and very knowledgeable; however, I got very little out of this class. I spent nearly $30 for no strategy, no real insight, just a few "tips" on how to create native messages within each platform. Unless you're an absolute beginner, this class is not for you. I would recommend simply buying the book - it's cheaper.

This class is wonderful. Extremely inspiring and gives you the base of tackling social media platforms. My one question. What are your thoughts on linking your Facebook and Twitter accounts so when tweeting it will show up on Facebook?? Responses are greatly appreciated. Happy Monday Y'all!

He had a lot of great information on each of the platforms. Talks quite fast. I would appreciate more visuals so that people who are not familiar with each topic could better understand what he is talking about. I do not have the book which he refers to a lot so more visuals would be helpful. I use Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram already. I am not familiar with Tumblr and really wanted to learn more about it. I think this class is more of a review for people already using social media rather people who are new to it.

Social media is an enormous ocean, and this class certainly bases its principles upon this notion. However, the tips and case studies submitted in this short course, attempt to boil down the key social networks, and, by and large, this works well. Some of the case studies are quite surprising (Smirnoff´s terrible fail on Pinterest) and help supply ideas as to how to *semi trite buzzphrase alert* tell your story. I would recommend this class.

Great, no-nonsense approach to the basics of social media marketing. The best thing about Gary is that his is extremely motivational, every time I feel a bit lazy or uninspired I think ‘what would Gary say to me right now?’. Check out some more of his stuff on his YouTube channel.

Gary is truly passionate (and very knowledgeable) about social media. His enthusiasm is contagious and, after years, he's the first one to convince me that Twitter can be more than just digital babbling!

This class was very basic and the teacher used a lot of vulgarity, which I thought was inappropriate. If he could've kept his filthy mouth clean, it would've been a better experience. I'm not sure many businesses appreciate the f-word or other vulgarity coming out of the teachers mouth. I hope children and teens didn't have to hear this. Blech.

Pretty solid class. I was looking for a bit more specific advice in certain areas that I already had a solid understanding on, but in general he offers a great scope of how each social media platform should be used. It opened my eyes to little things I completely overlooked when using social media to market a business. I'd recommend it..

If you're looking into the best practices for social media, this is a good start. However, don't expect communication with the teacher - it seems that he's not returning contact attempts or providing feedback.

In 2014, anyone using Skillshare is knowledgeable enough about the multiple Social Media platforms. I do not recommend this class because it is antiquated. For the cost of this class, it could be updated and more relevant to today. Vaynerchuk actually gives incorrect information how to use certain platforms. I also find the title of the class misleading and therefore disingenuous. There is no strategy... He does not discuss how to use this platform in conjunction with another platform... Vaynerchuck only explains, very quickly, how to use each platform. This workshop would benefit an early entry computer illiterate on how to use Social Media for business.

The content was great but the delivery was WAY too fast--especially for someone (like me) who is a true beginner. And it was delivered with a lot of assumption that I was familiar with the 'buzz words', essentially that I spoke the language of the social media sites.

I've only gone through about half the class so far but I'm greatly enjoying it. I am responsible for the social media accounts of my non-profit employer. I'm naturally inclined toward social media and don't have trouble using the platforms but wanted help to organize my thoughts and create a more professional strategy; that is exactly what this course offers. Mr. Vaynerchuk doesn't go into the minute technical details but rather the effective practices and reasons behind their success. It's quick, easy, helpful, and unexpectedly entertaining. Looking forward to completing the rest of the class!

At first this profs voice kind of drives me nuts and then the grit and wit is all part of his charm. He tells it like it is and points out flaws in some case studies that were otherwise quite successful. Great identification of the different attitudes to have on all respective social platforms. Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook!

I signed up for this class mostly because of the book we were promised to receive. I registered in time, submitted my address, and never received the book. I have been trying to get it sorted by emailing the course coordinator and the assistant, but with no luck. Feel ripped off!
