In Skillshare’s unique philosophy, everyone is a teacher, and everyone is a learner. Rather than a traditional lecture format, courses are offered within a global online learning community in which learners collaborate and learn by doing. Instructors are industry leaders who share their skills with anyone who wants to learn. No credits are offered. Founded by online entrepreneurs Michael Karnjanaprakorn and Malcolm Ong, Skillshare’s online “campus” was launched in April 2011. Its catalog has grown from 15 to more than 250 online courses that cover creative arts, entrepreneurship, branding and marketing, lifestyle and technology. The School of MakeOurMark, with courses in photography, illustration and tattooing, was launched in October 2013, and the School of Design went live the following month. Among the instructors who have taught courses are Seth Godin, founder of online marketing firm Yoyodyne, who teaches a class on entrepreneurship; DJ Young Guru, who leads a course on mixing and recording; and actor, writer and director James Franco, whose course focuses on screenwriting for short films. You can begin a Skillshare collaboration by taking an introductory course in a particular area to learn, for example, the fundamentals of Photoshop and expand your knowledge with a five-part, in-depth Photoshop series.

Thank you for the class Yuko! I enjoyed your videos and how you showed what kinds of supplies you should buy--what to look for. Thank you for the demonstration of Japanese brushwork. It was a pleasure being apart of the class!

Hoy moly. This class was intense! Yuko really takes the time to explain the steps and give you some pointers. What I wouldn't give to be able to sit over her shoulder picking her brain about little things as she works. She does give quite a few tips that you only learn through doing, and goes through her whole process in detail. It was fantastic to have her in-store showing the good and the bad supplies-wise. I especially love it when instructors run contests- it really shows a dedication to the class and gives students incentive to really give it their all. I was no stranger to such aspects as line quality, texture, etc. but having mostly worked with a pen in the past using a brush was a new horizon. She was right- sometimes you just have to hold your breath! I would definitely recommend this class to all levels, especially if- like me- you're a pen user that wants to get into using a brush.

I appreciate Yukos talent a lot. I follow her on FB and love what she does. I found that the demonstration could be filmed with more clos-up (zoom in) on how she actualy works, as well I thought she would teach more about developing different inking techniques and textures. I felt that such an important topic was touched too briefly.

This class has been great for improving my inking technique. Getting to see Yuko Shimizu in action, what kind of materials and the ways in which she approaches the work is an amazing opportunity.

Yuko Shimizu is no less than an exceptional human being. You can tell just by watching her elegant strokes coming to life. Her classes cover everything from basic to pro techniques, so there's no reason why you shouldn't take this short but well crafted class.

Yuko has opened my eyes to really go for things that I have always loved. Through her classes I can see how very important it is to pursue your passion and the most important your own happiness. She showed us enthusiastically and passionately how to learn to ink. I forgot how something traditional can be very powerful when you do it with passion and patience. I have always loved drawing but I haven't done it for quite sometime till I saw Yuko's classes. Ever since I took her skillshare classes, I draw for the last few months regularly! It gives me energy and motivation every time I practise it. Inking is a new medium for me, but I know that I would be to master it well when I practice it regularly. Thank you Yuko for your enthusiasm, direct, inspiring lessons!

As an illustrator I highly recommend Inking to be learned. Ink is a medium that is very difficult and must be reviewed, over and over, and over. that being said i recommned this class to all who are interested in inking techniques, its the basics, but it never hurts to go back to basics, most of all i found it very inspiring. Yuko Shimizu is a great illustrator and teacher. This is a must for all aspiring Illustrators.

Yuko Shimizu is at the top of the illustration game... so the opportunity to take part in a class she has put together was a real privilege. She patiently takes you through each step of the inking process with some really handy hints that she has learnt from years of experience. She makes ink drawing look much easier than it is in practice, which just goes to show what a talent she is... but this course is a good platform to start from and hopefully with some hard work we can aspire to produce beautiful artwork like she does so effortlessly. Thank you Yuko, for an insight into your process, you are a very generous artist!

Great class! I've done some inking with brush and pen, and some chinese calligraphy before, but I'm not terribly experienced. There were a lot of good tips in this class, although maybe not quite the ones I was expecting. All in all, I learned a lot, and finally finished a piece I didn't have the confidence to do before. Thanks, Yuko!

It's a really good class for beginners. Even though I have experience with using Chinese brushes, but still learnt some tricks from this class, it is the little things make things a big difference. Yuko explained everything very well, it'd be perfect for whoever wants to try this technique for illustrations. Thank you Yuko!
