In Skillshare’s unique philosophy, everyone is a teacher, and everyone is a learner. Rather than a traditional lecture format, courses are offered within a global online learning community in which learners collaborate and learn by doing. Instructors are industry leaders who share their skills with anyone who wants to learn. No credits are offered. Founded by online entrepreneurs Michael Karnjanaprakorn and Malcolm Ong, Skillshare’s online “campus” was launched in April 2011. Its catalog has grown from 15 to more than 250 online courses that cover creative arts, entrepreneurship, branding and marketing, lifestyle and technology. The School of MakeOurMark, with courses in photography, illustration and tattooing, was launched in October 2013, and the School of Design went live the following month. Among the instructors who have taught courses are Seth Godin, founder of online marketing firm Yoyodyne, who teaches a class on entrepreneurship; DJ Young Guru, who leads a course on mixing and recording; and actor, writer and director James Franco, whose course focuses on screenwriting for short films. You can begin a Skillshare collaboration by taking an introductory course in a particular area to learn, for example, the fundamentals of Photoshop and expand your knowledge with a five-part, in-depth Photoshop series.

Course Description

If you are interested in living a greener life, then this class is for you.

There are many aspects to eating green; this class will focus on aspect that will have the biggest impact – a whole food diet, particularly a whole food plant-based diet.

Our grandparents didn’t consume nearly as much meat and dairy as we do now, they didn’t eat out so much, they didn’t have huge fridges and freezers that can store almost 6 months’ food for the average family. Their food was a lot less complex, a lot less processed, and more homemade. Food brought families together instead of being prepared to eat on the run.

The old adage ‘you are what you eat’ couldn’t be truer. Your body is built from the food you eat and the higher quality that food the better you will feel and look.

If you have heard the advice to “shop the perimeter of the grocery store” and wondered why, it is because that is where the healthi...

If you have heard the advice to “shop the perimeter of the grocery store” and wondered why, it is because that is where the healthiest food it to be found. In the center of the store are where all the ‘food products’ are shelved. These are processed foods, many of which contain chemicals our bodies don’t need and can cause us harm. Around the perimeter of the store you will find produce, meats, fish. Most of the things you will find here are as close to their natural state as possible with no (or fewer) additives.

Eating a whole food diet can be intimidating if you have been used to grabbing a premade meal from the freezer and heating it before sitting down to eat. However, making your own whole foods at home is very simple and doesn’t need to take a long time. Not only that it is actually cheaper too in buying the food and in helping you feel better and more able to be active.

The class will help you set yourself up for success, change your mindset around food and then begin to transition your favorite recipes to plant-based.

I have put together a mini tip sheet/cookbook to show you how to begin making the change while still eating your favorite foods. If you want another dish added to the book, please email me and I will try and come up with something that is still good but drops the cholesterol and fat.

Email me at: [email protected]/* <![CDATA[ */!function(t,e,r,n,c,a,p){try{t=document.currentScript||function(){for(t=document.getElementsByTagName('script'),e=t.length;e--;)if(t[e].getAttribute('data-cfhash'))return t[e]}();if(t&&(c=t.previousSibling)){p=t.parentNode;if(a=c.getAttribute('data-cfemail')){for(e='',r='0x'+a.substr(0,2)|0,n=2;a.length-n;n+=2)e+='%'+('0'+('0x'+a.substr(n,2)^r).toString(16)).slice(-2);p.replaceChild(document.createTextNode(decodeURIComponent(e)),c)}p.removeChild(t)}}catch(u){}}()/* ]]> */ if you need help or something is not working

Note: This class will help you make the transition to a plant-based diet. Do not take this information as personal medical advice. Always work with your physician or qualified health care provider before adjusting medications or making major diet changes.
