In Skillshare’s unique philosophy, everyone is a teacher, and everyone is a learner. Rather than a traditional lecture format, courses are offered within a global online learning community in which learners collaborate and learn by doing. Instructors are industry leaders who share their skills with anyone who wants to learn. No credits are offered. Founded by online entrepreneurs Michael Karnjanaprakorn and Malcolm Ong, Skillshare’s online “campus” was launched in April 2011. Its catalog has grown from 15 to more than 250 online courses that cover creative arts, entrepreneurship, branding and marketing, lifestyle and technology. The School of MakeOurMark, with courses in photography, illustration and tattooing, was launched in October 2013, and the School of Design went live the following month. Among the instructors who have taught courses are Seth Godin, founder of online marketing firm Yoyodyne, who teaches a class on entrepreneurship; DJ Young Guru, who leads a course on mixing and recording; and actor, writer and director James Franco, whose course focuses on screenwriting for short films. You can begin a Skillshare collaboration by taking an introductory course in a particular area to learn, for example, the fundamentals of Photoshop and expand your knowledge with a five-part, in-depth Photoshop series.

Amazing class. James is one of my all-time favourite designers, and his approach to design is so full of passion that's contagious. But the most important thing is that it makes you question your way of working and seeing with things as ubiquitous as typography.

Press. Click. Yup, exactly that for the classes that James has packaged and shared with everyone. Being someone who constantly wants to express (like many of us) but limited by skills, this really made me appreciate what I was already able to do, and express. It made me realise what makes each of us standout, is the investment in our potential to really be ourselves and not the image of conformity, and just get on with it.

I loved this class. James is enthusiast, helpful and inspiring -- everything that a teacher should be. I was actually inspired to do the lessons, and I haven't felt really inspired in a long time. When James said, " Go to a coffee shop and do some sketches", I actually did. My only complain, which isn't really a complaint, is that I wanted more videos. I'd like to see more of his work and just listen to him talk about his insights on design. I did find his "Burning Questions" channel on YouTube, though. So, I will definitely be checking that out.

Great class! James Victore is very inspiring, he pushes you to step outside your comfort zone--and for good reason. He urges you to forget about the rules, forget about what's taught, forget about mass media. This class gives you something to thing about.

James' class is terrific for anyone who wants to become more of themselves. This sounds airy-fairy but it's not. He puts words to the idea that the really hard work is in discovering or rediscovering yourself. In this case, we use the ideas of image and radical typography to "make marks on the page," and these marks identify who we are. It's a terrific class, well worth taking the time and effort to complete.

Hi there, Here's some positive feedback on James Victore's class Radical Typography: First, the class curriculum and lessons are excellent tools toward both teaching and inspiring students. That said, the driving force that makes that all come together is the charisma and wordage of the teacher (in my opinion, anyway). Not only the class, but James' weekly emails and features (Burning Questions, for example). The ideas, although on a line of thinking I'm aware of, are expressed with such eloquent 'zazz that they become new and exciting again. I get uplifted and grin ear-to-ear when reading/watching them, whether at home or on the bus with my phone. Those ideas are golden to "the uninitiated", as he put it, and fantastic noggin joggers to me, among the ilks. I'm mediating time and energy to produce and upload things to these classes, I've enrolled in. So, before doing so, I couldn't wait to give Mr. Victore some major props 'n' kudos ... Highly excellent! The course gives a practical look at how James makes some of his work, but in a way that encourages you to get weird and be yourself in your work, not emulate his. Realizing that constantly "playing" needs to be part of my process is one of the biggest things that will stick with me.

This class really has inspired me, because it's a complete other perspective than how I work (I am a very clean designer :-). I will definitely take these lessons into action to see where it leads.

James Victore shares his philosophy and his techniques. I'm familiar with his philosophy from his great Burning Questions videos, his book "Victore, or Who Died and Made You Boss" and his public appearances. If you're not, this is a great introduction. The best part for me was when he shared exactly how he makes his images—the common, everyday objects he uses to create such memorable and visceral objects. Thanks, James.

This class is great. Not only do you get a chance to learn from one of the most amazing radical typographers and inspirational designers out there but you also get to interact with the great people who signed up for it. James Victore is very interactive and gives great feedback as you start to build your project and post your steps. The class itself it sectioned into logical and easy to follow chunks that make it exciting to move on to the next one. I had to actually slow myself down because I was so excited to see what was said next. Highly recommended.

Been a fan of Mr. Victore for a while now, design as a Bat with Nails in it speaks to my soul. If you want a class on technique or wiz-bang Illustrator tricks, look elsewhere. This is old school, this is analog, this is awesome.

Hey, I wasn't sure where to leave this note. There is a mistake on the "The Idea" section of the lesson. The homework assignment is listed as the "References" homework from the class before rather than the "No words. Just Marks" homework that you talk about.

extra ultra marvellous sensational... misteries unveiled... know how secrets took shelter from this highly educative learning from a light master writer. it made me realize that those skills that I used to create my logo may be very well be used as well to font use. the only glitch for the casual typgraphyartist is to know that master james doesnt read the label on japanese ink... if you consider ink labels to be more important than the end result type to create, do NOT take this class... I'd like to thank the teacher for the enlightining talk and fantastica lezione. grazie ! saluti & cheers from Rio de Janeiro Brazil
