In Skillshare’s unique philosophy, everyone is a teacher, and everyone is a learner. Rather than a traditional lecture format, courses are offered within a global online learning community in which learners collaborate and learn by doing. Instructors are industry leaders who share their skills with anyone who wants to learn. No credits are offered. Founded by online entrepreneurs Michael Karnjanaprakorn and Malcolm Ong, Skillshare’s online “campus” was launched in April 2011. Its catalog has grown from 15 to more than 250 online courses that cover creative arts, entrepreneurship, branding and marketing, lifestyle and technology. The School of MakeOurMark, with courses in photography, illustration and tattooing, was launched in October 2013, and the School of Design went live the following month. Among the instructors who have taught courses are Seth Godin, founder of online marketing firm Yoyodyne, who teaches a class on entrepreneurship; DJ Young Guru, who leads a course on mixing and recording; and actor, writer and director James Franco, whose course focuses on screenwriting for short films. You can begin a Skillshare collaboration by taking an introductory course in a particular area to learn, for example, the fundamentals of Photoshop and expand your knowledge with a five-part, in-depth Photoshop series.

I did enjoy this class, she is very thorough in her explanations and makes writing fun. I will give people hints that in order to get more from the class is to participate often in the class discussions. It will get you far. Also, don't give up if you feel that other people aren't commenting on your work. Comment and give feedback on other people's work and more than likely you will get feedback in return. It was also helpful that I was able to email Sarah Zucker directly and she answered me promptly.

Very useful material. Well worth doing. It was a simple way to get me going, to kind of prime the engine. I'm now working on a full-length screenplay. Thanks.

This class was really valuable for me as a beginning screenwriter. I learned a lot from Sarah's lectures, but the feedback from her and my classmates was invaluable. I started to think about story in a different way, and managed to transform an old idea that wasn't working into a compelling story that has me excited!

I've just finished with Screenwriting: Writing the 10-minute Short class and I have nothing but praise for the class in general and Sarah Zucker, the lecturer. I took this class to help me get back into the throws of creative writing, plus I really wanted to learn how to write a script in a script format. This class was very easy to follow and fun. Sarah is a great teacher, very thorough, and is definitely knowledgeable about screenwriting and motivating about how to write and combating writer's block, etc. Thanks!

This class is fantastic! Sarah is an exceptional teacher. She has structured the class in a manageable way for you to meet your goals, but is also flexible to your own learning needs and the realities of life. She provided an abundance of material for research and review to enhance your script and learn from the greats. She holds office hours every week to answer any of your questions and provide information for what lies beyond the 10-minute short. You have every opportunity to get out of this class as much as you want but if you have high expectations they are certainly met.

I took this class to expand my knowledge of the screenwriting process, not necessarily to become a screenwriter. I have some experience in acting, for which this knowledge is beneficial, and, as an artist, took the class for guidelines that may help with a potential animated/stop motion short film some time in the future. The instructor, Sarah Zucker, does a fantastic job coordinating and teaching the class. Though my class was her first experience teaching, her passion, intelligence, and insight made any hint of inexperience vanish. The handouts and references provided were very relevant and helpful. Her office hour sessions were my favorite, as they showed that she is a very giving and honest mentor, as well. She provided a bunch of inspiration and information, without any sugar-coating. Personally, I was not able to complete all of the projects and participate as much as I would have liked, but I still came away feeling that this ... I had a great time taking this class. Sarah was an excellent teacher, and her education, experience and perspective were all invaluable to the class. Sarah's approach to screenwriting is pragmatic, thoughtful and honest; and her insight on the state of the TV/Film industry and what it means to be a working screenwriter today was very meaningful. I left feeling like I had more than a basic introduction to screenwriting, but more like I got holistic advice from someone with the impressive educational background and working knowledge that Sarah has. The structure and pace of the class was great, and on top of it all, it was also a lot of fun!

Screenwriting: Writing the 10-minute Short was an AWESOME experience from Day 1! Sarah Zucker was highly professional in her program layout and presentation and provided helpful information and positive reinforcement to all of the students throughout this course. Sarah is obviously very passionate about screenwriting and film making and as my first instructor on Skillshare, not only met, but far exceeded my expectations. Thank you for an incredible experience!
