I'm still listening to these 48 lectures on Western music. Overall, this is a great introduction to the history of music in the West, from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. It has definitely broadened my knowledge of music, exposed me to new composers, and spurred me to further reading and careful listening. Some people don't like Greenberg's humor. He's opinionated and sometimes silly, but always holds my interest, even if the subject of a particular lecture isn't quite my cup of tea. The audio version is more than enough for this course, plus the course guide is very extensive. Sometimes, there wasn't enough time for me to fully absorb the lecture and music in one sitting. I plan on listening to this whole course again someday, after I've had time to explore more of the composers' music.
