The material is well presented in easy to comprehend language. Any questions I had during the course were answered promptly, professionally, and accurately. I would definitely recommend the Treehouse site along with this course to anyone wishing to learn the subject.

Very good content. I like the tests and challenges. The teacher explanations and examples very clear. I really really enjoy the experience. The workshops also are a very good idea, they help to really understand better and better what you do and the new concepts. For someone like me who never did any programming is a very helpful course. I really recommend this course. I believe was a very good decision to sing up with Treehouse team. I am happy with the result. I am still on the road anyway with Treehouse.

The course was laid out in a simplified manner, but with loads of fundamental details. I really enjoyed the fact that the course included mini tests to keep you on your toes with the knowledge learned as well as the random tasks given to help you test your knowledge. The instructor of the course has to be one of the best I've experienced so far and I hope to learn more coding from him. Overall, this was a great course, with a great instructor and awesome knowledge.

I have taken classes on basic JavaScript off and on over the years, on lynda.com, etc. I usually go brain dead and stop after the first few lessons; math and logic have never been the way my brain works. After giving up on ever really learning or understanding JavaScript, I decided to give it one more try. This course was challenging for me -- but it kept me going with the frequent quizes and challenges. Don't get me wrong, I invested a lot of brain energy into this course to get through it. But I did. Dave was easy to follow and he broke things into manageable chunks.

I work in a non-developer role in the tech industry but have never learned to code but then I had an an epiphany that my tech knowledge would always be superficial if I didn't learn. Expecting to have to flog myself to learn programming, I started the JavaScript course. It turns out that coding is outrageously fun. I credit this course and instructor for inspiring me to want to keep learning well beyond my original plan.

It was really great, almost felt too easy. I've been studying this for 3 months at college and was barely making it. Now in 3-5 hours I feel very confident on my abilities. I'm looking for more!

I'm new to Treehouse (and programming in general) and have taken a few courses taught by Dave McFarland. I have to say that his instructional style & tone of voice really make his lessons easy to follow. I like the way information is displayed visually in the videos. I

Overall, the course was very informative as an intro course. It had many quizzes and check points which I found to be very helpful and engaging. There were a few concepts that I think the instructor could have explained a little bit more clearly, but I was able to grasp the concept after repeat viewings.

I really feel like I learned a lot about JavaScript from this course! Going into it with no prior knowledge, all the information was presented to me in terms that were easy to understand and relate to. I particularly enjoyed the coding challenges, because not only did they build on information that was covered in the course, they forced you to think just outside of the examples you were shown to create something new. That is to say, I felt like I was given what I needed to think creatively to solve the puzzle presented, but I didn't feel like the puzzle was so far beyond my understanding that I couldn't solve it with a little extra thought.

The content of this course is great; not too difficult, not too stupid, just the right way to start learning JavaScript. About TreeHouse... well, I'm a "real world" student so I get all their library for less than 110$/year. I pay a lot more for University in Italy, getting a fraction of what Treehouse offers. But I want to spend just a few more word about Dave (the instructor). Teaching something through video is not as easy as it looks: you don't know who's watching you, what things the student already knows, what level of English he has (if, like me, English is not his native language), and so on. The risk of explaining something too fast, speaking too fast, not underlining a concept enough etc. is just around the corner. I'm giving 5 stars to Dave because: - I have never pause-play a video, even if I was working in the workspace at the same time - I turned on captions, but I simply never used it - I never felt confused ... Ok, it could seem exceeding for someone, but in this video I really saw Dave's intention not to leave a student behind. And I really appreciate this.

This is a really good JavaScript starter course. I couldn't fault anything. Everything made sense and from all my years of 'playing' with JavaScript. This gave me a solid foundation to take my curiosity further.

The clearest basic course of JavaScript. by the end of the course you will have total clarity of the basic concepts in programming with JavaScript. Excellent teacher, excellent practice exercises and challenges. Treehouse is probably the best place to learn web programming.

This is by far the best JavaScript course I have taken to-date. Concepts were explained clearly, students are taken through code line by line and application examples were easy to follow and understand. In so many of these online courses, the "task" you are given can be complicated (or seemingly pointless) in itself - let alone the concepts you are trying to apply (and understand). I also really liked Dave's teaching style, it was clear and no unnecessary "codey" language. For the first time EVER I actually feel excited about learning JavaScript!

everything was aawweeesssoommmeee!! EXCEPT i believe the course could do with some more content i.e. there were 5 parts to the course i believe a 6th could have been added OR the 5 parts could have more content in it. but PLEASE dont take it the wrong way i still believe the course had everything for a beginner to begin their journey on to being a master of JS!

I had no idea about JavaScript before starting the course. But now, at least I know the basics of JavaScript. Dave is one of the best teachers on treehouse. He is an awesome course instructor. I was able to follow along him easily. He made the course easier to me. Sir, Thanks a lot for dedicating your time.

Really an outstanding course. Even though anyone could have their dialog re-recorded a million times, they might still not be as clear as Dave was. His ability to deliver the content in a way that is concise, engaging, and informative was exceptional!

I really enjoyed JavaScript Basics. Being able to code along side the instructor, and completing the "challenges" really helped me get a basic feel for this programming language. I feel like I now know enough to start teaching myself how to really utilize JavaScript, and complete my own small projects.

I've tried to learn JS in the past by my own way and I quit bored and disgusted. With this course I've finally learnt the basics pretty quickly. The videos are well chunked and instructor's delivery is accurate an easy to follow. Great job. Now I'm well rooted and taking the rest of the "Full-Stack Javacript" development course.

Dave was a wonderful instructor for this course. All of the different parts of JavaScript Basics were laid out clearly and concisely. The quizzes and challenge objectives were also clear and followed along with the previously taught material. There was never any confusing moment where I thought, "Wait, what is he asking?"
