The course was easy to follow and the instructor Dave, a beautiful robot man, explains everything clearly. Will definitely do another JavaScript course at Treehouse, which is a great learning platform.

This course was a fantastic and very effective way to break into JavaScript programming. My employer will be so pleased! Totally worth the money. I now have the confidence to go out and start writing my own code, exploring the possibilities, as well as having a firm foundation to build upon for further knowledge.

Dave was great, explained things well, but there were a few instances where the code challenge didn't totally line up with the video previous to it. It asked for something that wasn't included in the video or the instructions were as clear as they could be.

The course offered a good structure to follow and you learn about variables, functions and conditional statements. If you are already familiar with these subjects, but want a deeper understanding, this course will offer you that. You are also introduced to booleans.

I really loved how simple and understandable this course was. Started to learn JavaScript some time ago on one other learning site, but didn't get far. When i tried out this one, I finished it within few days and enrolled right away in another a bit more advanced course.

Thanks Dave for the great beginner course. Nice linear thought process and instruction presented in a clear and steady manner. I was able to move from beginning to end smoothly and felt I was able to retain what I was being taught. Good teacher!

I found this course informative & presented in a good way. David's style makes it easy to learn. I also like how concise the videos are. The quizzes were also helpful in testing my knowledge of a particular section while pulling in the stuff I'd learned in previous lessons.

I am one of those who has taken course after course of JavaScript, mostly by people who talked wayyyy to fast for me to keep up. One of the things I love about this course, is that I can either slow down or speed up the audio, and if necessary, I can stop it while I follow along. In addition, the examples Dave uses are wonderful for demonstrating everything that he's teaching. The whole course is presented in a way that I'm really actually starting to understand... finally! Thank you!!! :)

Great course for learning the barebones of JS language. Toward the end the challenges got a bit more difficult but I have personally found JS the most challenging out of all front-end web languages so far.

I found Dave to be an incredibly easy to understand teacher. The course is well put together and I can actually understand a good amount of javascript after completing it. Give it a shot! You might get stuck on a few parts but as long as you don't give up you will finish with basic understanding of JavaScript.

I've been a Treehouse student for two years, and I sincerely thank them for their ability to bring fantastic teachers such as Dave. JavaScript was something I've been trying to learn for the past year but I couldn't pick it up at all. Dave is so funny, his examples are great, he works at a pitch- perfect pace if that makes sense at all. With my long experience of other beginner JS classes (as mentioned, I just couldn't pick it up!! so I'd redo and redo), Dave actually introduced the JS concepts a bit differently. And thank goodness for his unique flow, I've never had so much fun learning JS. I look forward to taking ANY of his courses! Thank you so much for your brilliant teaching superpower!!!!

I had finished my front end development track, but knew I hadn't achieved my "a ha" moment, like I had with HTML and CSS. I felt like I had missed something. Going back and running through this course was great. It really kept one focused, with step by step lessons and challenges. It jogged my memory of things I thought I knew, and clarified sooo much more. Simply put, JavaScript become much more accessible to me. I am now taking as many courses as I can from Dave.

I think the Treehouse courses in general are getting better and better, but the addition of Dave onto their team of teachers is a great move. I have experienced a couple of courses on Treehouse where the teacher perhaps couldn't "put themselves into the shoes of the learner" or assumed a certain pace of learning , new concepts were introduced rapidly and the course material moved on before any real opportunity to consolidate and demonstrate skills was considered. Here, you don't have to keep pausing and rewinding because the dude is halfway down the road already. I feel that you have to be spoonfed and walked through a certain base level of material to ever gain the confidence to want to take it forward on your own terms, so this ideal as an introduction. And he's taken the time to consider that there are different ways of explaining the same thing, which will mean that it will get through to even more people. All in all, I got a lot out of this and I'm moving straight onto his Loops, Arrays and Objects Course. The newer graphical styling of the diagrams explaining concepts to support the narration is appreciated too.

I've joined a number of courses for jumping into JavaScript.. but managed to fall out of them pretty quickly; either from boredom or I was unable to grasp the ideas with the way they were presented. This course, however, was excellent! I found myself staying up late and trying to get out of social engagements so I could spend more time working through each segment. Dave talks about JavaScript with excitement and it's infectious; now I'm excited about JavaScript too! The lessons are easy to grasp, while still providing challenges that make you really think throughout the whole course. I never felt like I was unprepared for the next challenge, yet never bored or left thinking "this is too easy." I also appreciated that I received an encouraging email after completing a segment, which worked well with keeping me motivated to go back for more; as opposed to some courses where you have to complete the entire course (or fall off the wagon ... Can't wait to continue down the road of JavaScript with another of Dave's courses!

Over the past year, I have attempted to learn the fundamentals of vanilla JavaScript through several online/in-person courses and books. After this course, I feel like I have a firm foundation in the syntax. I have found this instructor to be very good in other Treehouse courses as well.

I had absolutely no experience in JavaScript and couldn't have enjoyed the course more. Treehouse has a number of tools that make learning engaging and interesting, but the way the instructor made use of workspaces was the best I've seen, and I've taken a number of courses on there previously. The challenges were especially fun, and I was often surprised at how I had mastered a concept that at first seemed so foreign. I'm actively seeking other courses by this instructor on Treehouse now.

This is a really thorough beginners course for JavaScript. Dave McFarland manages to take you with no experience and implement the concepts to your understanding very successfully. If you have absolutely no programming experience and want to learn JavaScript, this course is a great square one. Since all these basics will be well established in your knowledge at the end of the course, you will not only be able to write JavaScript but also have the basics for other programming languages you might be interested in later on. Thanks Dave!

The instructor and provider are both very professional and I really enjoyed taking this course! As an aspiring web developer I would only wish that there were more real world examples pertaining to web site interactivity instead of just dice rolling and game topics. Otherwise I learned a lot and I'm on to the next Javascript course at Treehouse!
