The content was at the perfect level for a beginner. Dave explains things clearly and has an air of patience without being patronizing. I like very much that Treehouse has recently added preloaded Workspaces to each step of the courses. This allows the flow of the lessons to continue, and the student doesn't have to download, unzip, and upload into new Workspaces.

Let me just say that after tackling (and struggling with) a couple of prior js courses (one of which I'm still working on) at Treehouse, I found Dave's clear and concise teaching style such a welcome and refreshing experience that I went out and praised him on Twitter! I have great respect for O'Reilly's teaching materials and his experience with them shows in the quality of his teaching. Treehouse is lucky to have him and we are lucky to be able to have access to his expertise. Dave's classes are a great inclusion to the updated front-end development track. Thanks, Dave and Treehouse!

Great course, really enjoyed, explained really well. Good content. There was more coding to do in Workspaces and the exercises I found more interesting. I thought the flow of information made more sense, it seemed more logical. Pleased I have done both as it as definitely solidified my learning of the basics in Javascript.

Great basic JS course. It was a phenomenal refresher and really built a great foundational knowledge. The material was easy to follow. Don't expect to be able to be ready to become a professional JS programmer after this and be job ready, but it gets you more than ready to tackle more complex ideas.

Yep, this was great. I wasn't a total JavaScript beginner, but I'd say this course is perfectly suitable for people starting from scratch as well as those who want to refresh their understanding of the basics. I learnt some new things and feel that I properly understand the logic behind the language now. This course compares very favourably to the Codecademy JavaScript course, which teaches you too much, too soon and never properly explains some concepts. I'm looking forward to starting the next course now.

My enthusiastic compliments to Treehouse and Dave on this course! I am in the middle of the Treehouse front end web development track, and found that many users were chiming in about the confusing nature of some of the JavaScript course material for beginners. To Treehouse's credit, they responded, with a terrific, back-to-basics, nuts-and-bolts course. Dave lays it all out with perfect clarity, and I feel so much better now about my JavaScript skills. This course was exactly what I needed to get restarted in JavaScript, and I highly recommend it for other newbies like myself.

Expected to learn: To understand JavaScript - to learn how to code in JS and to put it in practice in realistic situations Likes: The way that Dave breaks everything down into digestible chunks and how he slows everything down to explain slightly more challenging code in easy to understand ways. Not necessarily dislike, but area of improvement : Code challenges, but only because I think that they could be increased slightly in difficulty. Love them otherwise. What I would improve: I think Treehouse is my favourite place to learn code. I'm also enrolled in a Udacity just to get an official degree as I don't have the background, but Udacity is no where near Treehouse in terms of quality. Basically I can't do Udacity without Treehouse and so I just wish I could do Treehouse to get a degree. If I could improve anything and make it an ideal world, it would be for Treehouse to allow their students to get a credible degree of some kind t... Other than this, I have only good things to say about Treehouse!

I expected to learn the basics of JavaScript. I feel like I have a good grasp on the basics. It's hard to find any faults in this course. I honestly didn't find anything that I can point out here. What I would improve about any online course is that I would have multiple practice projects per level that can be used to solidify new found knowledge. Not just one.

Covers the basics of JavaScript very well, syntax, variables, numbers, conditionals and functions. I have always struggled with JavaScript but after reading JavaScript & jQuery by Dave and watching the videos at Treehouse - including this one - I am starting to get a good grasp on things. Amazing job.

Thanks a lot, Dave! Very useful course. Very well-structured. I tried to learn JavaScript using different learning resources but this course is really what has helped me to understand the basics of programming.
