I have used jQuery at work, all very informal, mainly through Google when I needed something! Being self taught, there was a lot of stuff I did because the article online said to do it, but I didn't know why I was doing it, or that there were other, possibly more efficient ways of achieving the same thing. This course nicely tied up a lot of loose ends, and added a few extra bows. I have done another Treehouse course with Andrew and he is funny, informative without being condescending and presents the material in a really fun and engaging way. I can honestly say that there is nothing to dislike, except maybe the fact that there isn't an intermediate and advanced follow up! Thoroughly enjoyed the course, learnt an awful lot and went away with a lot of immediately useful things. Lightbox effect for photos is just about everywhere I have a photo because it just works beautifully. Really could not reccommend this enough if you want to... Really could not reccommend this enough if you want to dip a toe into a more structured yet informal jQuery learning experience.

This jQuery course is well-presented, and illustrates realistic examples. By providing background and a methodical technique to develop code, your confidence will grow each time. You can tell the instructor, Andrew Chalkley, really loves his craft and he infuses an excitement into his work. I would recommend this course.

I have books on jQuery but to be honest, I lose interest in all of the foo/bar(s) in the examples. Andrews examples were spot on for the way I would implement jQuery in the real world. Definitely would recommend the course to others and hope he has time to record a "beyond the basics" course.

I was simply expecting to learn another aspect of web development. I took the course as a part of the Front-End Web Development track and I shortly got educated on how powerful JavaScript and jQuery can be. It's been my main interest since. The course not only teaches you what jQuery is, but also how to effectively use the jQuery API and write clean code. You learn by doing in Treehouse. You will follow along in he videos while writing code in the built-in code editor, take quizzes, and complete code challenges. It is not difficult at all as you are given the tools needed for these challenges and the forums are a great place to go if you do get stuck. I would suggest taking the "Intro to Programming" and/or "JavaScript Basics" before this course to really drive home the concepts. Of course, any prior programming experience in functional or object oriented programming will suffice.
