Course Description

In an introduction to the basics of the famous Customer Development Process, Steve Blank provides insight into the key steps needed to build a successful startup. The main idea in this course is learning how to rapidly develop and test ideas by gathering massive amounts of customer and marketplace feedback. Many startups fail by not validating their ideas early on with real-life customers. In order to mitigate that, students will learn how to get out of the building and search for the real pain points and unmet needs of customers. Only with these can the entrepreneur find a proper solution and establish a suitable business model. Building a startup is not simply building an execution plan for a business model that the entrepreneur thinks will work, but rather, a search for the actual business model itself.

Awesome content, Outstanding Delivery (feel like recording that voice and playing it again and again), Amazing and Simple Concepts illustrated so beautifully. Please also read 4 Steps to Epiphany, Startup Owner's Manual, Business Model Generation and Value Proposition Design. These are outstanding books. Fully recommended.

This is an awesome course. It explains the whole business canvas model from the very beginning. For me it was the first contact with the model and it was exactly what I was looking for at that precise time.

Really good short class that all entrepreneurs should take. He really hammers home the importance of talking to potential customers first before wasting a lot of time building the wrong product/business. He also has a pleasant delivery.

No prior experience in the topic. The course was quite good compared to others, the concepts well explained and the videos very well-done. This course deals with the concept of customer development and how to implement this methodology invented by Mr Blank. Everything is very nicely explained, with nice examples and nice forum interactions. I only missed a bit more practical component. The book is excellent.

Solid structure, solid concepts that are at the core of building any startup. Namely, Customer Segmentation, Value Proposition, and Market Type are the most important emelemts in this course. Focuses a bit too much in the lean startup methodology of finding customers, that oversimplifies the process a bit especially if you are building a physical product or providing a physical service. The example Startup Steve Blank uses is kind of bad. Otherwise, i think this is an absolutely essential course for anyone in the startup domain to take, be they founders or otherwise,

I am still at lesson 2 of the course. I am currently organising study group with my colleagues. I found his emphasis on business model canvas is useful. I just created one and going to keep updating for my project. If you are interested, you can search content subtitles and see my notes at http://benkyoplayer.com/courses/10

I think I would have gotten more out of this class if I were actually in the process of building a real start-up. The course is structured around a business model canvas and walks you through the different things you have to consider when forming your business plan. It really expects you to follow along, filling in your canvas with ideas that match your start-up idea (which I didn't have). Regardless, I still learned a lot about general start-up business concepts. Interesting class if you just want to learn about what goes into building a start-up, definitely recommended if you have an actual start- up in the works.

The class was very helpful in helping me refine my understanding of entrepreneurship. I particularly liked the introduction of the concept of the Lean launchpad as well as the business model generator. Also the graphics were very interesting and made watching the videos doable. Although, I would recommend more quizzes at short intervals to ensure that the students are able to participate better. I will miss having that first watch. I know I will take this class again when I am ready to launch a business.
