It's not so much Intro to AI as Intro to fields that use AI. I expected the class to give a fairly solid basis of the material needed to expand on more complex subjects in later classes. Instead, if feels the goal of this class is to leave you with a shallow understanding of a lot of things AI is part of/tangential to.

Very helpful overview into the principles of Artificial Intelligence. Fully recommended for beginners and also for non-beginners. Full of information with good homeworks.

Having passed Stanford/Coursera's Machine Learning class and having done quite a bit of work before running out of time in Berkeley/edX's Intro to AI course, I was looking forward to seeing Sebastian Thrun's approach. It is a good compliment to those other two. Unfortunately I only got a third of the way through the course before Udacity went to the pay model for its MOOCs, so I didn't finish it.

I took the pre-Udacity version, Fall of 2011. Previous experience was nil. The experience led me since then to take another 20 or so MOOCs, of which I have completed about 15. Taking this was a lot of fun.

The best way to get started in AI. Sebastian and Peter make complex concepts very easy to grasp. You need to be able to invest the time, but it is completely worth it.
