Course Description

Ten minutes into this class you will make your own completely personalized version of the insanely addictive game 2048. Even if you've never coded before. Pretty cool, no? You'll do this by making small (but important) modifications to the source code for the original 2048 game. If this sounds intimidating, don't worry. We'll teach you the basics of HTML and CSS and how they interact with Javascript (don't worry if that sentence doesn't mean anything to you yet. It will soon). The purpose of this class is to have fun learning how to quickly and easily take an existing open source program, make some changes, and create something that looks and feels completely new. The game you create will be mobile friendly (you can play it on your phone!) and totally shareable.

It was good, but it needs some improvement. For example, why do you need a URL? It's stupid. But a person with no prior experience making a 2048 game, it was a great chance to learn how to make it for future references!

Make your own 2048 is a short, 1-sitting course that introduces HTML and CSS using in the context of the "2048" game. 2048 its a simple, yet addictive tile moving game; in this course you'll look at the CSS and HTML behind of a version of 2048 and alter the tiles to make your own custom version of the game. This is a fun little course that lets you learn by doing.  Just be careful as you may end up spending way too much time playing the game! Note: the course is supposed to have a second section that dives into the Javascript that drives the game, but the second section has been forthcoming for well over a month now, so there's no telling when it will be available. As it stands now the course only takes an hour or so to get through plus whatever time you spend fiddling around with the game.
