Thanks Mark for all your time and effort in producing this course, I have built a few guitars over the years and each time gaining my confidence and finally and hopefully to build one from scratch i.e. from body blanks and so forth, and this (hopefully series of courses) is the way forward, thanks alot and I cannot wait for the next instalment.

The course covers everything it promises and more: it is professional, well laid out, coherent and easy to follow from start to finish. Mark's enthusiasm for the subject, together with the humorous imparting of knowledge makes this course an absolute pleasure to work through. Can't wait for the build-your-own course to appear!

Great delivery from Mark in this excellent guide to designing a guitar. The course content is perfect - every aspect of the guitar is considered, with just enough information provided to enable you to make sensible decisions on the specification of your instrument. Mark is also very helpful in giving recommended specs for first-time builders, in an effort to make thing as simple and acheivable as possible. Having been on a Bailey Build Your own course, i can attest to Mark being an excellent teacher, which is reflected well in this series of videos and supporting material. His delivery is calm and considered, and he always does a great job of breaking down seemingly difficult tasks into small, easy components, making any job feel achievable. Ultimately, this serves to take what should be a rather intimidating goal - designing a guitar from scratch - and turn it into a realisable reality. The inspiration gained from this is invaluable... This course was just what I hoped it would be. I've been playing guitar for a while but wanted to know more about the mechanics with the view to building one of my own. Mark's approach is friendly and relaxed, which I enjoyed. I just wish I lived closer because I would attend one of his classes but New Zealand is quite a walk to the UK.

This course is very detailed and informative. I had plenty of questions after trying to figure out how to do this on my own with the help of youtube, but this course managed to answer all but one (which was then answered in the discussion section) Great value. I would highly recommend it for aspiring luthiers.

Mark Bailey makes this all so very simple. I haven't started designing my own guitar yet, but watching these videos - I know I won't have any issues. Questions I might have had have already been anticipated and answered. Wonderfully put together - can't wait to start - and can't believe what you get here for the price. I recommend this very highly - not enough stars to give it :)

Full of very useful information, and presented in a very clear and easy to understand format. Most importantly, the course works. By following each step I managed to produce an accurate and detailed working drawing, WAY beyond what I could have managed before doing the course. Being able to watch each section as many times as I want means I can learn and refine the skills involved too. I can't recommend this course highly enough.

Great course to learn how to design a guitar, with some basics informations and not like many books showing too much to handle, and just confusing. This course is simple quite informative, and if you are thinking of building a guitar for yourself, or start a business on the long run, this is quite a great start.

This online course idea is genius, i found some of the information in the bonus section quite useful, especially the stuff about making slab cut wood stronger, cutting it and gluing it to achieve the desired grain direction. This is useful considering i will be looking into reclaimed materials next year for future builds. Can't wait for the next course! Keep up the good work Mark!

A fantastic course. Mark gives clear and concise lectures in a style that inspires confidence and calmness in the work you do. The course is very well supported with accompaniment material and useful conversation between Mark and the students that is increasing weekly. Can't recommend it enough as a great way to start doing such a special thing.

I've built a guitar in a course at Mark's workshop (which was a great experience) and have wanted to build one on my own ever since. But I didn't feel confident as I was sure I would forget something. After taking this course on how to design a guitar, I'm sure I won't forget anything. Building guitars involves a lot of steps and details that can't be overlooked. Mark shows them in a very well planned set of videos. He speaks in a very straightforward and clear manner that even non-native English speakers will understand. It totally fulfilled my expectations.

Id just like to say again mark thank you for doing this and sharing your knowledge its been a excellent learning curve for me. Ive not had a opportunity to speak to a proper luthier so I've pretty much been self taught and reading books for last year an half. Your videos have answered a lot of questions that I've been a little frightened of to ask people, as not to look stupid. But from doing this course it has done exactly what i was hoping for. Which was to delve a lot deeper into the guitar design & making world. The dream is to have a workshop and my brand name on a guitar very similar to yourself so I'm finding a lot of inspiration from you work mark.

Really helps you to design your own guitar! This may seem like a simple process but there are a lot of things to think about in advance. Mark explains all aspects in great detail, and gives simple to understand tips and guide lines how to make your own design. Can't wait for the build your own guitar online course!

I've just finished the course and I think it is absolutely brilliant. I was really worried at the beginning because of the english language (I'm Italian) but after few minutes I totally delved into the course. And even when I didn't catch some words the video made it easy to understand. I really liked the way you explain all the technical issues and go through the whole process. I think you managed to make very clear and as simple as possible even the very "dark mysteries" of the electric guitar. Thanks Mark! 5 stars for me!

This is a very interesting guitar building course. It has a friendly feel, precise technical instruction but not dull and boring. Makes me think that I could actually have a go myself....The short lectures are like chapters in a book, so they do not overwhelm with too much information at once....Well planned...Brilliant!!!

No matter how good you are at building guitars (and Mark is up there with the best, IMHO), if the underlying design is flawed, you'll not be able to build a really *good* guitar. This course explains how to design the guitar, from the absolute basics all the way through to the complete design (or plan) for the guitar that you want to build. Mark's style is natural, with everything clearly explained, supported with good close up video work too. I've read a few guitar-design books through the years, but find the video presentation much more practical and easy to follow. A total beginner, with no knowledge of guitar design or building, would be able to draw a proper, workable design, and I'm hoping the next courses will show how to turn that into a proper playable guitar. Great work Mark ...

In this course Mark Bailey takes you through the process of designing a guitar. Step by step, the process is explained in detail. All aspects of the various components are covered in this course. Each step is explained and everything is shown clearly. It is obvious that Mark Bailey is a very experienced luthier who knows all the ins and outs, all the do's and don'ts of guitar building. I have learned a lot from this course and enjoyed every minute of it. Although English is not my mother tongue, I had no trouble understanding the lectures. Would I recommend this course? Yes! It's an absolute must for anyone interested in guitars and guitar building.
