Overall this course is OK and has helped me from knowing nothing at all about SQL to understanding some of the basics. Where could it be better? There is virtually no triggers to trying examples out yourself, the examples given are not very 'real world' either, and often the lectures deviate from what is possible with loaded data that you are asked to load during the initial parts of the course. I'm afraid I also have to report that there is real 'death-by- powerpoint' in this course. The first setup video showed some finesse by the lecturer in the use of a desktop camera tool, but sadly that was never revisited. There was no encouragement to entering in the SQL into the delveoper application either, I found myself doing that without any prompt, but more often I found myself 'switching off' due to the over use of powerpoint static slides. This is a shame since the lecturer is not a bore to listen to and what is presented is presented... This is a shame since the lecturer is not a bore to listen to and what is presented is presented well. Its just a very dry subject so to have very dry slides as well made for a sleepy experience! Overall then, good and worth the money. But could be much better, more vibrant and if encouraged the student to engage more with the material with examples (homework) to do, would really help with the learning activity.. (if the lecturer reads this, I highly recommend watching Bob Tabor's C# fundamentals course, which takes and even dryer subject (c# programming) and turns in an engaging and awesome online course - which is FREE on Microsoft Virtual Acadamey.

I have literally just began this course (only on the second video) but I am very impressed. The commentator is very clear and precise and I feel that this is going to be of a great benefit to me during my studies.
