The videos don't play nice with Safari. The app hangs often, videos don't always load unless the app is restarted. Even then that doesn't always work. I gIve the course five stars, Udemy gets one star.

Bernie gets to the point quickly and effectively. I knew plenty about the exposure triangle before starting this course, but not how to take good photos. This course is chock-full of great examples and discusses areas I have no skill in (portraits, composition). Really enjoying it and can't wait to get out and try some of the tips!

learning a few useful tips and trick only from watching a handful of lectures was just worth the money. I love this course. Bernie is an excellent instructor. Thank you for this.

What a great class! Best money that I spent! As as beginner, it's very easy to get bogged down in technical details but Bernie has a great way of explaining things. Very thorough and covers a lot of topics, plus, he gives great tips.

The amount of content, and the detail in which it is described, is very good in this course. Presentation by the instructor is always going to be subjective but I really like the fun, friendly way that Bernie Raffe does this. Many online courses suffer from over prepared, monotonic boring voice overs but Bernie's style is a bit like having your mate round to show you how to do something. This even goes to leaving some bloopers in which makes it human and fun. Anyone want to know how NOT to hold a reflector near a model on a windy day has to watch this :-) On a more serious note though, Bernie comes across as someone who clearly knows what he is doing. He is able to put this knowledge over very well and goes to a lot of trouble to illustrate what and what not to do. Not just by telling you but actually doing it. He is able to put this knowledge over very well and goes to a lot of trouble to illustrate what and what not to do. Not just by telling you but actually doing it. The way he describes and demonstrates perspective using different focal length lenses is the best I have seen in that it drops the science and just shows you what happens. The image and video quality is high as is the sound quality. The course content is extensive but in easily understandable and digestible chunks, which you can easily go back to and find bits you want to go over again. The structure of the course makes dipping in and out very workable. I think this course should be recommended to anyone who has possibly reached the point where they are familiar with their camera and want to take it to the next level. Also, the course works for those who have done that and possibly just need to get to grips to the 'why' as well as the 'how' you do things that bit better. Bernie demonstrates the techniques with a variety of DSLR and Compact cameras. This clearly proves the old saying that 'Photographers take pictures not cameras' Advice on posing, composition etc are well covered and, again, well illustrated with clear video of posing being done and how the model(s) are directed AND WHY. All in all, I think this course is to be recommended to just about everyone with a basic interest in photography to take your work the next level.

I was intending to learn just the basics of photography and the settings and features, but this course has given me much more! I've gone from taking snapshots to taking pictures that actually looked good. I've seen huge improvements in my school, and my family and friends all enjoy it when I take pictures of them. Bernie is really easy to listen to, and his videos were really entertaining and kept you listening. (I also like his accent!) All in all, I give my full recommendation for this course, and it's worth the 39 bucks.

Quite interesting course, very practical lessons, excellent tricks and straight to the point. I found very useful the time reserved to compact cameras, How many times my family and friends wanted that I take a picture of them with their small cameras because I know something about photography.

I really enjoyed this entire course! Bernie offers great insight in many ways on how to view photography with a fresh eye, even if you've been behind the camera for a while. He's succinct, yet conversational, and I learned a lot and thought even more during the entire course. Eager to learn more from Bernie! Thank you!

This is the most complete and understandable training course I have taken. By breaking up the training into small sections complete with examples, he covers all aspects of seeing, understanding and control of light in easily understandable lessions. Best bargain on Udemy

I recently purchased a DSLR camera and was quite intimidated with all the settings. After previewing a few online photography courses, I selected this one. I really appreciate Bernie's engaging approach to taking photos--he's relaxed, smart, and is able to explain various elements using concrete examples. I have already learned not only how to better use my camera, but how to be more creative, use natural lighting, and not feel so intimidated with the process. I can see a huge difference in my images. Great course! I highly recommend it. I am already enrolled in part 2--also as good as part 1.

I loved this course! I tend to have a short attention span and get bored if a lecture lasts too long. The length of these films is perfect and cover all of the topics I've wanted to learn more about. Bernie is easy to follow along with, and he does an outstanding job of making sense of topics that had previously confused me. I only wish that I had found this before I had taken other, less helpful courses.

This course was very well put together by the author. The lectures were very well delivered and kept my interest throughout. I learned so very much and cannot wait to start his Part 2 Course. The course will teach you everything that you need to know about your camera and photography, presented in tiny bite size modules makes learning and retaining the information taught. Well done!

I learned tons of very useful and practical stuff in this course. I loved Bernie's relaxed teaching style. He obviously really loves and enjoys photography. I will most likely be going through this course several more times to soak up more of the information that he is providing. There is too much information packed into the course to absorb it all in just one pass.

This course really does explain the basics and over a wide spectrum. Bernie makes you feel at ease and he encourages you at all stages to go and try what you've just learnt. I would have prefered to have the explanations about cameras and sensors at the begining so that I could go and get a camera. But do the course first it will help you to choose the equipment for you.

As a starting out enthusiast, going on towards being professional, I have been through a lot of courses. And I regret not starting here. Barnie Raffe seems a bit dull in the introduction video, but is in actuality a very engaging and fun educator! He has a very good sense of humor and is not afraid to make small jokes in his videos. Just small ones that really just engages you. With that said, this course has some great tips and tricks that will make you a better photographer and make your pictures a lot more exciting. I picked up this course because I want to move my photographic skills forward. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. After watching the entire thing, even those parts I already knew, I can give this a solid five-star rating. Bernie is a hoot! He knows his material, presents it well, and is witty to boot. It's a great combination in a teacher. The material varies from entry level to parts appropriate for any skill level.
