This guy's a pretty amazing teacher and really inspirational in the way he communicates. Very cool series. AUGUST RUSH is also my favorite movie so I was warm going in. Paul obviously loves what he does and it shows. Makes me want to enjoy the process too.

Yes, I am one of those people who hates writing reviews and hates those who write them even more as I don't care about your opinion. Now I find myself being that person! Castro really woke me up here as a writer and as a person. I think I'm going to try to be less of a pessimist and hopefully a better writer. Yeah, 5 stars well deserved.

Because of Paul Castro, I now have the tools to write screenplays. He is a true teacher who wants each and every writer to succeed. He is patient, deliberate, brilliant, and spot-on knowledgeable. His enthusiasm is energizing. His love for story above all else makes him a special voice in the world of those who teach screenplay writing. He made me cry within the first 10 minutes of this course (darn you, Paul). He's that good.

Yes, I did just right that. Seriously this screenwriting series saved me years of going down the wrong path and guided me on the right one. This goes beyond the Robert McKee and Sid Fields antiquated nonsense, thus launching you into another stratosphere of screenwriting. Really cool. I've never rated anything 5 Stars in my life, but this certainly warrants all 5 stars and more.

I never really understood the screenwriting process even after reading scripts, books, and attending seminars. I kinda got it, but now realize that I was clueless. Finally it all makes sense and I am now free to write the story I was meant to write. Thanks, Paul Castro! You made my summer!

This screenwriting series goes way beyond any of the books I've read on screenwriting, and beyond other online courses as well. I wish I had Paul as my professor when I was at Oxford. Spectalular and lovely in all ways imaginable.

The simplicity and deep intricacies of this series are amazingly helpful on so many levels. I loved, loved, loved this! Also, Paul Castro is easy on the eyes too so that didn't hurt either. I learned more in these twenty segments than in all of the countless screenwriting books I've read. I highly recommend THE MILLION DOLLAR SCREENWRITER!!!

I wish this online course were available when I first started writing screenplays. It would have saved me a lot of time, and improved my screenplays significantly. Here's a seasoned professional screenwriter and very accomplished screenwriting professor taking you through all the most important elements of screenwriting structure, story, character development, and he does it in roughly two hours. Yes, that's right, two hours. His points are concise, delivered in the context of movies we all know and love, and they ring so true. Every 5-minute lecture contains actionable guidance, and the summation of its parts amounts to a well wrought screenplay. If you're a new screenwriter, I don't know why this wouldn't be the first step on your path to success. If you've written a dozen screenplays, why not find out why your scripts aren't getting positive coverage or advancing to finalist status in reputable contests. I'm confident you'll have ... As an executive producer, I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "I've got a great idea for movie!"  Sadly, in most cases it remains just that - an idea!  On the rare occasion the would-be writer takes their idea to the next stage, the resulting work usually falls short of the target.  A script must first capture the the emotion of the moment before an actor can bring it to life or before a producer will invest.  Paul is not only an exceptional writer, he also understands the “business" of Hollywood.  He is a passionate educator who has taken the time and energy to develop a roadmap for all you would-be screen writers out there!   I strongly recommend you take this course before you pitch to me or any other producer.

I'm on my second time going through the course because the first time I realized early on that I just wanted to watch it, participate in the exercises, and experience the material presented organically. This time, I'm going through and taking lots of notes. This course taught me concrete methods to improve my screenplays immediately. A totally great value, worth as much if not more than a course from a top-level film school.

It's understood that between teacher and student an exchange exists. Rarely, does a teacher truly have something to give that exceeds the simple conveyance of information and technique. Enlightened learning comes when a teacher seeks to move a student in self-understanding and elevated wisdom. Paul Castro is such a teacher whose story telling craft and story creating teachings can not only generate a viable end product but do so through a changed perception by the student, further evolving our world through a refinement in the art of writing, story creation and screenplays. A unique opportunity exists to follow a proven path which arrests the imagination and directs it to reach new places inside of your infinite possibilities.

I've got the stories... a million of them it seems. I've got the desire to share those tales far and wide. What I lacked before taking Paul Castro's Million Dollar Screenwriter course on Udemy was a precise toolkit for transforming my stories in to the medium of film. In his uniquely enthusiastic way, Paul guided me through the process of crafting my characters and story line to maximize their emotional vitality and dramatic arc. Paul's approach in this course is to break down the screenwriting process into its component parts - everything from choosing a film name, to creating fully realized protagonists and antagonists, to building dramatic tension from the opening image to FADE OUT. Each of these steps is explored in short, easy-to-digest, video clips, followed by assignments for the student to make practical use of what has just been taught. In short, this course would be money and time well spent for anyone who wants to write their movie!

I've been making a living as a professional writer for nearly 20 years -- television, film, television, theater, and comic books -- but, after I enrolled in Castro's course, I quickly realized that I still don't everything, He's a concise and honest teacher with an amazing amount of knowledge. Some concepts were reminders of what I'd learned and forgotten. But the real joy was a fresh way of looking at storytelling! I know I'm a better writer as a result of taking this class.

I've read all the top "how to" screenwriting books out there and watched hours of online tutorials and interviews. Most of it just confuses the hell out of me, especially when it comes to proper structure. Paul has taken the chaos and clutter out of the screenwriting process and given you a step by step process that's easy to follow. The chapters are quick, compelling, and engaging. They make you become part of the process, instead of just watching or reading like a minion, which forces you to use your mind and challenge yourself. Most writers have mastered the art of procrastination. Often that’s because we allow frustration to cause a lack of motivation. This program gives you short bursts of easy to understand information that lead you through the process effortlessly and keep you wanting more. The activities immediately push you into action in a way that feels more like fun than a homework assignment. One of the most amazing thin... One of the most amazing things about this tutorial though is how Paul has tailored it to be a deeply personal experience, so you actually learn about yourself as you learn how to write the proper screenplay. I honestly discovered something more profound about myself in the 4 minutes of Lecture 2 than I ever discovered in 20 years of going to dead beat shrinks. Were those horrible shrinks? Perhaps. I mean, one would even fall asleep during sessions. But I think, more importantly, it shows how great of a teacher Paul Castro is. The bottom line is that this course will surely change you as writer, and may just change you as a person.

There are many out there who profess to teach you how to write a successful script or screenplay. However, nobody quite does it like Mr Paul Castro...he takes the time to break it down, explain all the pieces, dissect all the elements, lay it all out for you, and then put it all together again in a way that transforms a seemingly ordinary story into an extraordinary script that will truly go places. If you are serious about giving screenwriting a shot, or if you want to take your writing to the next level, you owe it to yourself to take this course...after that it's all up to you and your masterpiece!
