Let me start with the important part: what this course will do for you. I worked for more than a decade in reliability engineering, and I can see how much more productive my program could have been and how much happier our customer would have been if we had used concept mapping in requirements development instead of endlessly arguing after the product was delivered if what we delivered was actually what the customer had asked for. This is a powerful technique for making sure up front that everyone is on the same page before you go to great time, effort, and expense developing and manufacturing product, whatever your product may be. I am no longer in engineering, but I can see how this could be much more widely applicable, and I am currently working on using it to develop programs for a non-profit educational organization that I run. I believe the applications of this particular technique go far beyond what Per has listed in the cours... I believe the applications of this particular technique go far beyond what Per has listed in the course description, and I encourage you to think about how you could use it even if you are not in one of those fields. Now for a more detailed review. This course sets the bar high not only for online courses, but also far exceeding the quality of many college level courses I’ve taken as well. This is the first course I’ve had that truly fulfills my vision of what an online learning experience should be. I have long felt that there should be far better educational experiences and value for the price than I found college to be. I’m still years away from paying off my student loans for an experience that I mostly was never able to apply in my technical career. This course is a shining example of exactly what I believe a high value education should be like. I hope to see more experiences like this available in the future. First, it is well-organized and broken up into lectures that are easily comprehended. Most mornings for the last few weeks, the first thing I have done when I got out of bed is to make my coffee and then sit down at my computer to do 3-4 lectures. It is a really enjoyable way to start the day off learning something new at a leisurely pace. But Per has set it up so that if you want to learn to apply concept mapping right away, you can jump past much of the background material and revisit it later as needed. So if you are looking to apply this now in a fast-paced business environment, you can do that as well. Second, the video and audio production of this course are good quality. I have abandoned other courses before, not because of the content, but because there was some annoying audio feature bothering me, or because it was not visually appealing. This course was obviously put together with attention to audio and video quality. Third, Per is an excellent teacher. Particularly in the earlier foundational lessons, he is teaching things that are fairly subtle points and they can be hard to grasp. However, nearly every time I felt lost after Per defined a new idea he was introducing, he then followed it up with an example or two that resolved any confusion I might have initially felt. The one time I really did not grasp a lesson from the video lecture, I posted a question and Per followed up on it very quickly with further information that cleared it up for me. So in summary, this course: -presents a useful, practical topic that can be implemented to improve things right away, -in a logical, well-organized manner -with good audio and video quality, making for an engaging and aesthetically pleasing experience, -taught by a knowledgeable instructor who is well-versed in the topic and has the ability to explain it clearly. I consider this a FAR better value for the price than better than most college course I’ve taken, and I took a rigorous engineering course of study, so that is all the more impressive.

The teacher – Per, have great knowledge in this domain and he is really eager to teach you all about it, his enthusiasm is contagious! The course in itself is extensive, with a philosophical background as well as the facilitation of workshops and how to make comprehensible maps. After this course you will really understand the importance of having a common model for your project/company/idea so that everybody within that context speaks the same language and can contribute with knowledge and ideas.

I am up to lecture 12, and have already received something very valuable - a systematic model of how memory and perception works, and the basics of turning concepts into objects (maps). Per is excellent in the way that he explains difficult concepts, backed up with peer-reviewed articles (for those that want access to the originals). I have a background in engineering, so concept mapping resonates well with me, but I can see how this way of thinking can benefit anyone who depends on accurate communication. Highly recommended!

This is a truly comprehensive course that teaches mastery of concepts and concept mapping. It is extremely rich in content, context and real-world applicability, and is taught by someone who is clearly utterly at ease with the subject. The instructor's professional approach is mirrored by his engaging and confident presentational style, which helps hugely to navigate through the wealth of detail a course pitched at this level of training inevitably entails. First class.

I'm only on lecture 9 so far, but still realising how useful this course is to me in my line of work as a requirement analyst. I'm sorry I didn't have the oportunity earlier in my career, because I see a lot of situations where it would have been of great benefit. Still thankful that I will be able to apply my knowledge in the future.

I very much enjoyed Per's course. It gave me information and insights about how to structure and present information and ideas that I couldn't find anywhere else. It is an absolute must-have if your success depends on clear and convincing communication, especially of complex topics. I can highly recommend it!

Per does an excellent job in explaining the methodology and importance of concept modeling. As a software developer i especially enjoyed the philosophical background and the cognitive science section. I used UML on a daily basis to model my software development task but now i learned that UML can also be used to describe a problem as a means to clarify communication between parties. The course is not software specific and anybody can use Per's instructions and insights to enhance his communication skills and toolset to simply make himself or herself crystal clear in communicating complex problems. I rarely write reviews about courses but with this course i had to :-) I wanted to underline the excellent quality of the course and can only encourage people to take it. Thanks Per.

This is a great course for anyone who wants to learn efficient tools for mapping out and truly understanding almost any phenomena/system. At the first glance I thought it was a bit philosophical but as it turns out I now use the methods taught on a daily basis!

As a teacher, I am really glad that someone finally could put all the pieces together about mind mapping and conceptual analysis for summarize complex knowledge that need to be use for learning purposes. Also, the best part IMHO are the Concept Modelling Techniques, which allows you to growth your learning abilities exponential without any fluffs whatsoever. Highly recommended for any person that wants to learn for the long term, as well as for teachers who wants to communicate to their students in a deeper way. Kudows Mr. Per Emanuelsson !

A great course! It gave me a better understanding how to evolve blurry ideas to clear concept maps (knowledge acquisition). The maps not only help me to visualize and communicate ideas and complex concepts. The maps also encourage and help me to do creative leaps in my Semantic memory network. I especially recommend the parts of the course where the philosophical and psychological foundations of “concept, language, mind, facts, truths” etc. are discussed.

A course that directly adds value in my daily work. Communication is a difficult thing to master, and the lack of communication is often a reason why we do not succeed in our undertakings. A shared view of concepts and conceptual modeling will streamline our work and make it even more fun.

Finally! A course that really explains, not only how, but why and what concepts are! As a project manager this course has helped me in my role, planning and working with architects, and I can now manage some modelling myself. The course also helps me in communicating, concepts are not only business or software development tools, concepts are defining our world and existence! Great course!

A great course for improving your analytical thinking and for visualizing concepts. The section on psychology behind concepts, semantic memory and learning was really interesting and gave a better understanding of what is going on in your mind when you think and when you learn. I will definitely use the tools and methods in this course in my work. Recommended!

I found "Get your concepts straight" being a very helpful tool in order to become more efficient when studying, communicating or working with e.g. project development. This is a modern, business-adapted version of the old Socratic method of making sure to define words and expressions before you enter into a discussion. If you and your audience or collaborators are not using the same definitions and concepts, a lot of time is wasted and misunderstandings are bound to happen. I find this course very suggestive and useful, and I can recommend it for everyone who wants to be more efficient in most every-day situations.
